As of right now, it appears that they only way that North Americans will be able to guarantee themselves copies of the local region release of Xenoblade Chronicles is to either preorder the game from Gamestop (which can be done now), or through Nintendo's website (which can be done starting on December 19th). So, who here has put their money down on this? I've already preordered two copies (one for me, one for a friend as an early birthday present).
Xenoblade Chronicles
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Jun 10, 2010
An RPG developed by Monolith Soft, for Wii and New Nintendo 3DS. Two great civilizations that live on the vast bodies of slain deities have been at war for aeons, and now with the development of a dangerous superweapon, things are finally coming to a head.
So, who's preordered?

well that sucks I just wanted to go to a store and get it
Same here. I'll call my local GameStop to see if they're getting copies, but I'll pre-order from the site, just in case.
Just got mine in the mail a few days ago, I live in Norway though so the question wasnt really aimed at me :P

You can preorder from physical Gamestop locations, as well. It's not limited to their website.

thats one of those three jrpgs right. Tell me when they bring the awesome one to the us, the one by that ex square guy
Xenoblade was also made by an ex-Square guy.
@Dagbiker: this is the one by the guy who left square

I'm just going to wait until its $20 at Gamestop a few months after it comes out
I don't know if that's going to necessarily happen. If this game does end up running in limited quantities, you might be hard-pressed to find it lower than the $50 retail price, especially if it goes the insane collector's market route as Beforet suggests and the price gets jacked up to ridiculous levels. Not saying it's going to be that way, but it could.
I'll consider doing that, if I can manage to find a buyer for my PAL copy of the game and matching Wii. It is the kind of game I could see myself purchasing again.
(Yes, I do regret not looking up the simple process of soft-modding a US Wii instead of importing one from Britain, WHY DO YOU ASK)

I suppose that could happen, but I'm only passively interested so I'll let people who want it die hard get a shot first, and if its a crazy price.....well I have too many other games I need to play to get hung up on it.
@Hailinel:
I know, but I just want to see if I can walk in, ask for Xenoblade, discover its the wrong day, and then pre-order the game and come in the next day. (I've done it before.)
I pre-ordered mine. I would feel pretty hypocritical if I did not though since I sent two letters to Nintendo saying I would buy this game and The Last Story if there were brought here.
does this have anything to do with Xenogears? is Xeno just the brand?@Dagbiker said:
@Hailinel I did not know that.Yep. Monolithsoft was actually founded by members from Squaresoft's old Xenogears team. Their games were published by Namco until Nintendo bought a 90% stake in the developer.

As far as I know, there's no deadline by which you have to preorder before the release date.
Now, the game is already out here so I guess I could just go out and get it (maybe it'll be hard to find at this point, who knows) but I'm just sorta scared of the time commitment at this point. I spent nearly 60 hours with the last game I played and over 200 with the one before that, I don't know if a ~100 hour affair is what I want right now.
Then again I have been looking for excuses to put off playing more FFXIII lately so...

I think that's covered with the phrase "the next day."
I know that.

Aside from some spiritual ideas, there is no connection to either it or Xenosaga. The game wasn't even originally called Xenoblade; the name change occurred because the lead producer Tetsuya Takahashi felt that a connection was there, in a sense, and so he changed it.
ok, Xenogears is one of the best JRPGs of all time. Xenosaga which was suppose to be a 6 game prequel to Xenogears, I did not like at all. Xenoblade is supposedly one the best JRPG of this gen, so if I see it I'll get it.@Video_Game_King said:

I have my PAL machine and copy, but I also have an NTSC Wii, which I soft modded just to play Japanese games (mainly Captain Rainbow). Love Xenoblade ....... hate Region Locking.
I'm going to pre-order soon. I've heard enough about this game to make me think it'll be worth it, plus I don't have an RPG for the Wii.
I pre-ordered it from Gamestop. I didn't even realize I could pre-order it from Nintendo though.
I can't wait to play it.

Having played both Xenoblade and The Last Story, I can definitely say that Xenoblade is "the awesome one".

I don't like to pre-order on principle.
If I see it in stores, and I can find my goddamn Wii remote, I'll pick it up though.
I'm kinda bummed out I can't find the damn thing, now that there's two whole Wii games I should try out.
Dude, fuck that noise.
1. Buy game
2. Install Dolphin
3. Plug in X360 pad
4. Sex

@MikkaQ do NOT play this game with a Wiiremote!
there's a reason they had a bundle in Europe with a red Classic Controller Pro.
Only a week left :D
But it comes out literally a day before my first exam and I end on the 20'th so there's a good few weeks before this game and I get a bit of alone time.

And Nintendo of America has started selling the game in a CCP bundle on their website.
Yup, pre-ordered last week. Have to pick up a CCP as well, but I don't mind too much, this is my only game purchase for April, so a little extra for a controller won't kill me. My real concern is the fact that I bought Tales of Graces F last month and haven't gotten around to playing it yet, so I've got a bit of a backup already for JRPGs with real time combat.
I have it on order from Nintendo. I have the classic controller from Monster Hunter Tri (which is the last Wii game I bought), so I am all set there.
