    MGS4 Almost Perfect 0

Story: Well as a lot of you guys probably know Metal Gear is not the easiest story to follow and this one really ties  everything up nicely, I never thought, but what about this and that, everything gets explained nicely and you'll be satisfied how its done. The story is divided into 5 acts which lets you explore different location for each act.Graphics: The Graphics are the best I've seen on any console thus far, everything is ridicously detailed, just the best looking game I've seen so far.Sou...

    MGS1 Times 4 0

People lets get one thing straight before we continue. Stop posting stuff that isn't a direct review of the game, and stop posting reviews when you haven't played the game. It is so demeaning to people who read reviews. Stop posting your ratings based on previews. Play the game then write a review. And for crying out loud, stop giving games a 10. There are no perfect games.....no game will ever be perfect. No matter how great it is or may be, there will never be a game that is completely and utt...

GGTL: Metal Gear Solid 4 0

I feel like I must start this review by stating that I have never played a Metal Gear Solid game to completion before (got about 90% through MGS3) and that this may have had a negative or even positive effect on my review. So if you disagree with my review, which you have every right to, please take that into account. Previous MGS experience or not, this game is a great reason to buy a PS3, if not the reason to buy one.Metal Gear Solid 4 manifests itself as a “Tactical Espionage Action” game. T...

An Epic Conclusion to Solid Snake's Saga! 0

Wow!  If I were to sum this game up with one word, it would be wow!  This game is visually stunning, amazingly epic and the best reason to own a Playstation 3 so far.   Everything about this game is amazing, the graphics, the game play, the story, the finale, this game is the closest thing to bridging movies and games together into one ultimate bundle.   The downside to this is of course the fact that you might spend more time watching amazing cut-scenes rather than actually playing the game.  N...

This Metal Gear really is Solid 0

The word masterpiece tens to fall short of what this journey through Kojima's world. This experience is so heartfelt, dynamic, aw inspiring and totally mind blowing that if you were to not play this game and consider yourself to be a gamer then you should not be allowed anywhere near a console ever again. But if your do not consider yourself to be a gamer then passing up this opportunity would be a monumental mistake. Aspects like game play, controls, mechanics have all been vastly improved ever...

    Metal Gear Solid 4 0

Metal gear solid 4 is an outstanding game. Pure and simple. I mean pure and simple in the outstanding sense but that doesnt necessarily mean that the story itself is simple. You will need to play the previous metal gear solid games to get the most of this game which is unfortunate for people who havent played previous metal gear games but good for me.All you really need to know is that this is the definitive metal gear game and if you did not like previous metal gear games, this might change you...

It's hard to say farewell to certain things in life or to let go of somthing you care about but Metal Gear Solid 4 is defindently somthing that you would want to say just wow. Kojima has been delaying it for years but it was worth the wait not just graphics or gameplay it's the story that counts and Solid Snakes final chapter and mission to stop Liquid once and for all.Few years after Metal Gear Solid 2, Liquid trys to gain power and taking over the world fighting over PMC. The Last Stand 0

Metal Gear Solid 4 is in my book one of the greatest gaming experiences to be had, on any console, from any generation. The game ties up the story of so many unanswered questions from the previous games and brings it to one of the most epic finale's in gaming history. Some parts of this game (River, boats, bang bang, I'm looking at you) would actually have me holding back tears. Its one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had with gaming and it is leaps and bound beyond anybody else in pr...

Probably the best game ive played all year, if  you wanted justification for buying a playstation 3 this is just that. The Cinematic graphics are scary i actually had to remind myself that i was playing a game and not watching a film during some of those very long dramatic videos throughout the game. They finally fixed all the mechanics and made then all much more simple to use so the gameplay is great the AI is fantatic the story line is very compeling. The characters in the game are very well do...

Thanks for (bringing back) the memories 5

I won't lie to you, I am a Metal Gear Solid fanboy. The original is my all-time favorite game, I could go on for months about how much I love everything about Snake Eater, and I still play Sons of Liberty to collect dog tags. I hold the series above any other video gaming saga to date.       As Guns of the Patriots approached, I knew that I would need this game. I saved my pennies for a Playstation 3 and a copy of my game. Finally, the day came, and I went to pick up the final entry in the...

I had mgs4 in my grasp a lil late than most this time since i had some annoying complications with EMA and I had to start Old Snake's journey 6 days after release.Naturally watching all the video reviews and reading the now flooding amount of player reviews not having for myself was eating me up inside and frankly was almost considering intimidating GTA and robbing a game shop then admitting GTA made me do it...While i doubt any game will get me that wound up except maybe Resident Evil 5 it real...

    Old v. New 0

Metal Gear Solid 4 presents a potential vision of the future of the videogame medium; a future that demonstrates how truly cinematic videogames can be.   At the same time, however, MGS4 is tied to trite gaming conventions that make the overall experience feel uneven and dated.   Young Snake Modern gaming is at a crossroads.  There are some game designers such as Metal Gear Solid’s Hideo Kojima who favor truly cinematic experiences with strong stories that often come at the expense of gameplay. ...

A great and fun game, even if you didn't play the other MGS games 0

*As a little disclaimer, this is the only MGS game that I've played all the way through. I played a little of the first one on PC, and from what I played it was pretty good. Also, I'm not going to talk about the multi-player, because in over an hour of updates and stuff, I couldn't find a game without giant lag spikes, so I don't want to see biased towards it, and I'm sure if you want to know about the multi-player, you can find the information elsewhere.*MGS:4 is a great game, the combat is ver...

    A Perfect End 0

Since MGS4 is the culmination of a 21 year long series, a review of several paragraphs seems inadequate. My first impression of the game, on the other hand, spanned only three letters: Wow! Booting the game on my HDTV, I was greeted by a stunning rendering of Solid Snake, casually puffing a smoke as the game performed its initial install. I have to pause here to mention that since so many PS3 games have hard drive installs, I consider it a characteristic of the platform. Therefore any praise or...

    Outstanding in all ways. 1

MGS4 is arguably the best game of this era. I think that as well. The game just does so many things right it makes up for the few things it does wrong. (By the way, played this for somewhere between 40-100 hours).Gameplay: 5/5The gameplay is spot-on. People may complain about cutscene length saying: "Oh i heard from so-and-so that MGS4's cutscene length is 20 hours of the 25 hour game....." Wrong. The cutscenes are perfect length (although you could argue about the FINAL final cutscene). The gam...

    Best game so far 0

OMG i love this game. Solid snake returns for his "final?" (yes) mission. If you've been following the metal gear series from start to finish, you will not be disappointed with this game. The closure of the Solid Snake saga is one of the best endings in gaming.GAMEPLAY:First off, this is a stealth tactical espionage game. Meaning that staying stealth plays a "big" part of the game. Sure u can "Run n' Gun," but if you try that in the higher difficulty levels, you will just see yourself being mowe...

The old man and the C4 0

(This is a review from my own blog and podcast)There are three questions that a gamer needs to ask him or herself regarding Metal Gear Solid 4. The first is whether you enjoy stealth-action games. The likes of Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed have set the bar high in the past few years, largely inspired by this series. Fortunately unlike previous games the rigid enforcement of stealth has been relaxed in all but a few places and a player could quite happily charge through most of the game, gun...

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a work of Art 0

Let me start off by saying that this games is by no means perfect but its still up there and probably has exceded Halo 3 in everything that has to do with single-player. MGS4 has alot of things going for it: The gorgeous graphics, great combat, and some great moments that pull you in and get you immersed in the game. There is also some things in the stor that could be aplied to real life, the war economy is the main one I can think of. Some people may say that the cutscenes are too long, but tha...

    Convoluted, but great fun 0

Fans of Hideo Kojima’s confusing, complex and downright compelling Metal Gear series will lap up every last overly cinematic second of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, although newcomers to the series may have an adverse reaction to the series’ final instalment. It’s just over 20 years since Kojima’s first stealth game, and Guns of the Patriots is a worthy successor to the previous games in the series, and it also provides a capstone to Kojima’s career as he redefines not just a genre, ...

The Perfect Way to End the Legendary Saga of Snake 0

Let me say one thing first, this is the best game of this console generation. Not only that, its also one of the very best games ever made. This may sound like hyperbole, but it isnt. If you love video games and movies, this is nirvana. It takes some of the best gameplay ever in video games and combines it with cinematic presentation to make a game that is both unique and that has depth uncommon for the industry.I can't actually talk about the story of MGS4 for fear of spoilers, but know this; t...

Hideo Kojima made an icon out of Solid Snake, as simple as that. 0

It’s hard to believe, for a franchise running for over 20 years, so many innovations and controversial changes have made its way, but…..it only grew and grew and became the grand daddy of AAA games. Metal Gear Solid series have gone through dramatic changes since it’s debuted in 1988 as “Metal Gear”. Back then, it was the first game of its kind, in introduced a new element to the gaming world…Stealth. Yep… you might say that, if it weren’t for Hideo and his Foxhound team, Sam Fisher wouldn’t hav...

Konami has taken the "game" out of "video game". 0

You know, I've thought about encouraging you, the “reader”, to actually sit down and read this entire review before passing judgment, but I won't do that. Why should I? After all, any die hard Playstation or Metal Gear Solid fanboy checking out this review has probably already judged it based on the numerical representation I've used as a score. Such people most likely won't even bother to consider - much less: read - any of the points I make, so I'll just say, “screw that altogether”, and not w...

It leaves you wanting more 0

Metal Gear Solid 4, in a lot of ways, feels like more than a game. Its cinematic elements play a much greater role than any of the gameplay, which is easily substandard to the story-telling. The action thrill ride of some of the events, the twists in the plot, and the sheer madness of Hideo Kojima's randomly breaking the 4th wall and then immediately dropping you back into a very serious and emotional plot. By the end of the game everything feels unreal, and you just kind of gape at the screen f...

Metal Gear Solid 4 Review, THE GAME IS AWESOME!! 1

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the fourth and final instalment in the Metal Gear Solid franchise. The game was developed by Kojima Productions, the development studio started by Hideo Kojima the creator of Metal Gear Solid, and the game was published by Konami. Story and Characters: Arguably the most memorable thing about Metal Gear Solid 4 is its story. The game opens with a cut-scene showing a war-torn Middle-Eastern environment, into which a truck full of militant soldiers ...

Is solid snake's swan song the killer app for the ps3?? 0

~Intro~    Metal Gear Solid 4 is the final chapter of Solid Snake's epic battle between his crazed brothers, the multitude of government conspiracies and even time itself. A lot can be said about Metal Gear Solid 4: technically it's a renouning achievement both graphically and artistically. There are liters of features from online play to a shooting gallery. The single player provides the closes thing to an interactive movie. The story pulls no punches and finally delivers on the promise of conc...

More Metal Gear Sellout than Metal gear Solid 0

While I agree MGS4 is a fun game and well worth playing, it is not graphically that great and is plagued by incredibly small area's between loading (the city level being the prime example, little detail or npc's, but laoding every  1 or 2 streets) most of which are pretty sparce in detail. Back when it was initially shown before the the PS3 was released it did look impressive but since then it's pretty average. I think tho the main defining comment I have seen of MGS4 is the "Metal Gears of War"...

Twenty Years Later, It Was Over 0

I wish I could say I've been on Metal Gear since day 1, but I would've been around 3 when the first game came out on a system America had never heard of, so no, I'm not. I can say that I played the demo for Metal Gear Solid enough times that I'd memorized the lay-out of Shadow Moses' exterior and could probably replicate it to a sketch artist, so when that first game was finally released, I ravenously consumed it. Then came #2 and the flood of controversy over the fact that you weren't Solid Sna...

Big Boss = Darth Vader 0

I am quite shocked that nobody (as far as I can tell or as far as I have read) has compared this game and its story arc to Star Wars.  Ultimately this game is about the redemption of Big Boss and his return to good from evil.  Aside from the obvious differences in setting and plot, ultimately the story makes you feel compassion for what you had perceived as the villain for the majority of the story.  Also (spolier) the villain/ main character dies in the end.  Is this intentional or is it just a...

Marley's Adventure with Metal Gear Solid 4 0

Okay, here is my adventure with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. One day I just decided to live up to all the hype, and play the game. So I went over to my friend's, asked him if could play it, and it was all over from there. I really had to say that this is so far the best game, on the Playstation 3. The cut scenes are insanely long, but for someone that actually wants to become a film maker, I was generally pleased with these cut scenes. They were executed perfectly, because no p...

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Review 0

I never beat games this fast, I usually never even beat games to begin with. The Metal Gear series has always been a different beast to me however. Ever since I played Metal Gear Solid back in the day I was hooked on the story of Solid Snake. When MGS4 came out I wanted nothing more than to beat it as fast as I could just so I could know the story, and have some sort of closure to this adventure I've been playing since 1998. That's just what I did, I bought the game when it came out on Thursday,...

Changing the way we think of games today. 0

It seems that at any time during the year there is some massive hype for a game. People say that this game will ‘change how we think about video games’ and is ‘the best yet.’ This sets a standard that, at release, the game often falls short at. I am glad to report that Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4) does not fall short of any expectation that was place upon it. ‘The best is yet to come’ was an understatement in MGS for the playstation console. MGS4 wraps up every single obscure plotline and answers a...

Something of a Beautiful Failure 0

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a beautiful failure for a game and an extremely average CGI Anime extravaganza. If it wasn't called Metal Gear Solid 4 or made by Hideo Kojima MGS 4 would be getting roundly booed. Where Metal Gear Solid 4 has a game (and not a student film animation project) there is a lot of potential that sometimes gets realize, but most of the time does not come to fruition. Where MGS 4 fails it fails because the game hangs on design choices ten years out of date -- monster closets, in...

Best Metal Gear Solid Game EVER! 0

Yes. This is the best MGS game ever. I am not exaggerating. Metal Gear Solid has been known for its amazing cutscenes, great gameplay, groundbreaking graphics, and awesome sound. This hasn't changed. What has been reinvented, however, is the control scheme. The new controls make it easier and more fun than ever to control Snake. In Metal Gear Solid 4, the player assumes the role of Snake as he tries to stop Liquid Snake from taking over the world. It sounds cliched, but it works well through gorg...

There is no better game on PS3 as of 2008 then MGS4. As soon as i fired up this game on my PS3 i was confused. It started out with commercials, so i asked my self, is this MGS4? Hell yeah it is! The best game in an already near-perfect series. 0

In 1998, Nintendo published The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64, to critical acclaim from critics and gamers alike, with many calling the game “perfect” and topping numerous lists as the number one game of all time. Since then, very few games have reached the level of praise that Ocarina of Time received. That same year, Konami released Metal Gear Solid, the third game in the Metal Gear series, for the Sony PlayStation to a similar reception, but not receiving the same perfec...

Best Ps3 Game So Far. 0

I know this is 6-7 months old, but I had to write a review for this classic, and well made game. This is very different from the others before it. "The watergate scandel" joke is right out the window, and they made room for the best game of 2008. One of my favorite scenes had to be the microwave part where he is fighting within an inch of his life, and you have the sad music in the background. Most people thought the cutscenes were to long, but what do you think they made a skip button for? I lo...

Kojima delivers the final piece of a 20-year-old puzzle 0

Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the hardest acts to follow in the history of videogames. An instant classic, it demonstrated how master game designer Hideo Kojima could come back from the many criticisms of the prior game to produce an incredible adventure, with one of the best settings ever commited to disk and a now iconic soundtrack. With one game he introduced both close-quarters combat and the camoflage system which was sadly hindered by current technology and a clunky interface. With Metal G...
