I have not watched a single fast and furious film. This will be a great way to experience the series!

I just thought of some stuff to add:

  • There are a ton of heat actions for the weapons in the game. Some more generic items do reuse animations but they seem to be the minority. Don't let that discourage you from seeing them!
  • Hit Triangle in the skill screen to see a more exact list of what moves you know and how to utilize them.
  • There are three people per character that will teach you new moves. These moves are the Master skills labeled "M" on the skill screen. To unlock them you will need everything leading up to that skill. You will learn the skills in a specific order, as dictated on the skill screen by their number.
  • Tatsu at the docks will teach you Beast style moves.
  • Kamoji at the parking lot teaches Rush style moves
  • Bacchus near the park teaches Brawler style moves.
  • Spend your money and don't worry about saving up. Money comes pretty fast later in the game. Starting in chapter 5 you get a side activity that will get you a ton of money if you put any time into it.
  • You can buy more slot car parts at Don Quixote, at the slot car place itself (there's a stand on a stage in the corner), or through the million yen dream machine.

There really isn`t a ton of weapon heat moves in the game. There is a good amount and you should try out heat with the different weapons, but I feel people are misleading them about the amount of heat moves and it has ended up with them being really obsessed and just spending every combat encounter looking for new heat moves.

@thedigitalistic: Yes there are.

Wall front and back

Chest high object front and back

Rail front and back

Car door

Balcony/Bridge

And that's all we're going to see, over and over, until they figure out Heat.

They know about the Heat icon now, so that's good, but there still seems to be confusion about when it appears. It is not just going to appear randomly, as they seem to think it will while standing around "pushing nothing" on the controller.

When armed, push triangle to do a Heat move when you're within range of an enemy. Every weapon has a Heat move, so this is guaranteed to make the icon appear.

When unarmed, the icon will ONLY appear in TWO situations: 1) When you're standing over a downed enemy. 2) When you've grabbed a guy and you're near one of the environmental things listed above.

That's it. There's no Heat moves for dragging a guy over to an object. There's no Heat moves for fist-fighting.

There is a decent amount of heat moves you can use unarmed, though most of them you get through the trainers. (The rush style heat move on stunned foes, or some of Majimas break heat moves for example)

You can upgrade your sprint at the shrine. It also has some other cool stuff, though I would save up some points for the business upgrades when those opens up. When you want to make money later on it`s incredibly usefull.

About the trainers: On the ability grid there are some spheres marked with an M, when you hover over them it will say master and a number. To learn moves from trainer you need to unlock spheres adjacent to these (as if you would buy them normally). The sphere with 1 for the first move, the one with 2 for the second moves etc.

Also in pocket racers you press the stick to the right to go faster.

@awesomeo4000: That is inbetween yakuza 1 and 2 (he retires at the start of 2). The only times he is in tha yakuza during the events of the games are the first chapter and ending of 0 and the first chapter and the ending of yakuza 1. Otherwise Kiryu is never actually a member of the Yakuza.

There is a help/notebook thing in the pause menu that has bios on all the characters. It explains who is in what family/clan/association and what their role in the story is, so it might be worth to take a look at now and then if you are unsure about the characters.

Edit: Also the rush style is really good against mr. shakedown (and most one on one fights), but you need to build up some heat before it gets really fast.

Last year I remember the weighted list had used a really weird system (first place was worth a lot more than second place and stuff like that) and they posted a list using a more sensible system (first place 10 points, second place 9 points etc.) in the comments. Anyone know if it`s the same situation this year?
