Update on that Unreal Tournament they brought up: Epic is no longer actively developing it! Dead in the water basically, with no community updates hitting the main branch of the game anymore.

While Red Dead Online is buggy and prone to crashing I wouldn’t say there is “nothing” to do in it. There are several competitive multiplayer modes, there are public events and then there are the story missions and quests given to you by NPC’s from the main game. I think Abby had this expectation that this would be the single player in co-op mode rather than a multiplayer component, which it basically is. They just need to iron out the bugs cause you get disconnects and crashes quite often, balance the economy and unlocks, and add more interesting story missions. The skeleton is there and what I’ve played is fun, there just needs to be more of it, but it’s certainly not nothing.

Agreed. I'm having a lot of fun with it, both the competitive modes and the free roam. That world is such a joy to be in, and the fact that the randomness players bring to it make it even more fun. A great framework (economy aside) to build upon.

I disagree about GTAV heists; I think the splitting up isn't good. Inevitably, one half ends up being cooler than the other, and I was usually saddled with the lame half in my group. I was the best pilot of my group, so I had to pilot the plane for the prison heist. This meant I had to fly around in circles doing nothing for 20 minutes while my friends did the actual heist on foot, and I had to repeat this multiple times since they failed. And my group of friends aren't the type who will ever replay that stuff, so I never got to see the cool half.

I don't know if this is still the case, but in the past, I have tried to launch a Ubisoft game in Uplay that I purchased via Steam without Steam open, and it wouldn't let me. Some extra authentication is required or something.

I love the Witcher games and even *I* was clueless what Thronebreaker was until last week. It's not merely the singleplayer of the multiplayer collectible Gwent card game. In fact, it doesn't even use the same number of lanes.

It's a giant RPG where you play as a queen defending her territory against an invasion, in which most of the conflicts are depicted through a card game interface. Your soldiers, heroes, siege units, etc., are all cards in your hand that you deploy tactically. Thus the interface of the card game lets you fend off a siege, or fight a dragon. But it gets weirder - it also is used for chasing down carriages of loot, for surviving a landslide, and for escaping a dungeon. I've never seen a game like it. It's really creative.

@sethmode: I think you can drive the Warthog in Horizon 4. I wanna say it was in previous Forza's as well? Could be mistaken about that though, only recently started playing Horizon 4. There's some real dumb stuff in there, like you can make your car horn the Windows XP shutdown noise. Not entirely related but in Halo 5 you can get a MS-DOS emblem. Someone at MS is having fun, that's for sure.

I have zero reason to use the Epic store, Steam has all the games i play and community features i use.
Jeff likes to berate Steam's community features, but what he doesn't realise is that they are the number 1 place to go to get in touch with other people playing each game, if i have technical questions the Steam forums are the best place to ask, they are the most active game specific forums for PC versions of games anywhere, i've had many conversations with Indie devs who are active in their communities through their Steam forums, i've even resolved issues with Ubisoft games through the Steam forums, and besides the forums there is the screenshot managers, public screenshot galleries, hilarious artwork sections, Workshop support, every other store lacks all of these things that i use regularly.
As long as Valve maintains and improves support for developers and other publishers, i really don't see the Epic store as any kind of threat.

Steam has too many GOOD games.

If one is stumbling into garbo games, you deserve it. But watching classic works be ignored as they're lost in the shuffle is a tragedy.

Wow, is all i have to say knowing that absolutely no one on the Bomb crew East and West had any idea about Thronebreaker, let alone played it. It was all over the net few months back and its really really great game.

Going to the dentist in the US sounds like a real experience. I always hear stories about people getting hooked up on the gas & being pretty much high all day afterwards.

I've had significant dentalwork done on me given that i had pretty much a double row of teeth back to back that somehow needed to be realligned into one neat row, but i've never had anything more than local anesthesia being applied for painful procedures. That would keep the mouth numb for about half a day, and that's it. Getting rid of dental plaque or tartar(?) is something that doesn't hurt, so i wonder what the hell is going on during those check ups that requires the dentist to bust out the Nitrous Oxide.

I imagine if someone explained to Dan that microwaves, AM and FM radio, visible light, x-rays, and ultraviolet light are all the same thing (electromagnetic radiation,) his head would explode.

@landhawk: doesn't sound like it

If the way they read and discussed the e-mail didn't tip you off, beyond the bits and beefs the GB crew has always been about respect; of each other, of their guests, their fans, and of the people in the gaming industry. There are plenty of places on the internet where you get back-slapped and lauded for making people feel unwelcome because of their harmless differences, but this isn't one of them.

"If people want to yiff, they should yiff." -Jeff Gerstman of Giantbomb.com, a website about videogames.

I have had dental work done mostly in the US, and I was never given nitrous oxide ("laughing gas"). Same as you, I was only given a local. The last time I heard of anyone in my circle of family & friends getting nitrous oxide would be going back 60 years to my parent's generation.

You have a helium balloon in your hand. You shoot down the drone, grab the pizza, hook the drone up to the balloon, and let go.

Just got to the part where @benpack and @jeff are talking about self driving cars making moral choices. You guys are sorely misinformed on this topic and spreading alarmist news. The cars are not being coded to consider which people to spare or hit.

What you're referencing was a research study conducted out of MIT as a thought experiment. No car company is currently programming their AIs to make these sorts of decisions or conducting studies to see how they "should" program their AIs. If anything, I believe that the manufacturers will code cars to minimize damage to the owner above all.

Vinny had an opportunity to clarify exactly what EM radiation is (and isn't) when they covered heat transfer with a radiator, why Vinny prefers hardwired ethernet to wireless (in contrast to Bakalar presuming that wireless ethernet performance will just keep getting better), and Vinny's recent conversation regarding his radio exams (I believe he mentioned the size of the wavelength and antenna needed).

It's probably not worth putting effort into because it's hard to tell just how much Dan really doesn't know and what part is just an act. Regardless of that, if he's not interested enough to take 10 minutes to read a wikipedia article, then it's not worth 5 minutes of exaggerated incredulity while you earnestly try to explain it.

Dan could shoot down the drones with the slingshot i sent him!!!!!

Also, a major method for the future will be drones taking down drones. Think a hawk swooping down and grabbing another bird. no need to shoot it, just intercept it!
