Whether they only actually smell different or not, I could absolutely identify what skittle I'm eating without seeing them. I regularly do this with 2 or 3 at time (because I'm weird and still play games with my food); doing it one at a time is no contest.

Though I'd be curious if plugging your nose would actually make a difference, since you can smell though your mouth as well, which I assume is what the whole smell replacing flavor in candy is based around.

I'd watch 10 hours of you all playing that Driver SF mode over and over.

It was a bit annoying at first that there were "dumb" challenges yet again, but the Skittles one ended up being the funniest part of the video. I think Jeff was saddled with some of the dumb challenges last year, too, poor guy.

Watching 2 color blind people trying to identify Skittles was one of the funniest things I've ever watched on this site lol. That whole game was gold. XD

i love how all these people surrounded by videogames go for the most hokey real life games when it comes to competition :D I'm hoping for a 'which colour am i thinking of' type of game next. Or having a run off while bouncing around in a potatosack :D

the skittle challenge was fantastic.

This feature is always so much fun, but a lot more fun when the matchups don't include games that anyone would have likely to become good at in the last few years.

I love this, but this needs to have more off-beat, simple games in it. While DBFZ is a fantastic game, it would have been fun if it was a more tense/even affair with that one. Hopefully next year they will have Smash Ultimate with some insane ruleset (they have plenty of time to tune that as long as they pick a decent half-stage it could be amazing) thrown in there, that seems primed for something like this.

The "Skittles all taste the same but smell different" argument seems really reductive to me because just in general smell is the primary factor in how we taste things. It's why everything tastes like nothing when your sinuses are plugged, it's why breweries dry-hop beers even though the process of dry-hopping really only affects the aroma, it's just how taste works. Without smell we mostly just get sour, bitter, umami, etc. So like, no shit? It doesn't mean they're pulling a fast one on us, it just means they know how our brains process taste.

How can anyone not like Skittles?

I have never understood this. I can taste just fine when my sinuses are plugged. If I smell a banana and eat a slice of pizza, I still taste the pizza. Is my body just broken? I have NEVER been able to replicate this super basic thing.

I just had a mini pack of Skittles. I can't imagine not being able to easily distinguish those flavours. Are US Skittles garbage, or is this just more standard Giant Bomb crew food ridiculousness.

Edit - finished the bag. I don't like Skittles anymore turns out. Bummer
