Overview
SNK 40th Anniversary Collection is a game compilation developed by Digital Eclipse and published by NIS America for the Nintendo Switch in North America on November 13, 2018 and in Europe on November 16, 2018. It was later released for the PlayStation 4 in North America on March 18, 2019 and in Europe on March 22, 2019, released for the Xbox One worldwide (by Other Ocean Interactive) on May 3, 2019, and released for the PC worldwide (by SNK) on June 7, 2019. The Switch and PS4 versions were also released in physical format.
Made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original SNK Corporation (or Shin Nihon Kikaku), SNK 40th Anniversary Collection features 25 games (both for arcades and for the Nintendo Entertainment System) from the company up to 1990, prior to their Neo Geo platform. It also includes a comprehensive game history of SNK's early games (SNK Complete Works 1978-1990), showing trivia, flyer art, and screenshots. It also includes a jukebox for the included games and bonus content (including advertisements, concept art for Crystalis, information about the lost game Tangram Q, and retro Japanese newsletters and guidebooks).
Game List
The original version of the game included 14 games, with 11 additional games released later as free DLC. Later platform releases includes all 25 games, with the Xbox One version featuring 1 additional game (for a total of 26).
It includes the arcade versions of these games, with the only exceptions being Baseball Stars, Crystalis and Iron Tank (as they were not released in arcades). It also includes the Nintendo Entertainment System / Family Computer versions of seven of the arcade games, in addition to the three aforementioned games. Most games allow players to change the regional game variant (USA or Japan).
Post-Release DLC
Released for the Switch version on December 11, 2018 as a free DLC pack (which mistakenly claims it is for two of the 11 games). Included from the start in the PS4, XONE, and PC versions.
