Don't Panic! Hothead Games Bringing Back Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Here's a bit of news guaranteed to get Douglas Adams-loving Earthlings into a tizzy. This morning, developer Hothead Games and "publisher" Megadodo Publications announced that a new Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy project is on the way.

Love the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but I wasn't much a fan of the DeathSpank games.. So we'll see how this turns out.

I love Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and am excited to see what Hothead do with the franchise. I love the reference to Megadodo. An adventure game seems like a perfect fit, but I can see them being more adventurous and trying something different. Either way, I don't know whether it'll be good or not, but I'm excited to see them try, at least.

Wish they'd do more Penny Arcade games, but it's certainly making me curious. Reminded me to bring my towel.

Okay Hothead you took the funny Penny Arcade and made games that were funny, and played kinda poorly. 
You took the funny Ron Gilbert and made Deathspank which played well but wasn't remotely funny.
You're now taking a third thing I have fond memories of, if you screw this up there is no going back.

Obviously announced as part of Towel Day! Happy Towel day. Hope you know where your towel is.

Sounds like a pretty good union, I've enjoyed the charm to Hothead's games and that factor should be really bolstered by the sort of material on offer in Hitchhiker's Guide. That said, I expect the gameplay itself will be rather forgettable given Hothead's track record.

Man I hope this is good or ill be heart broken.  Wonder if it'll follow the books since we already know the answer to everything.

Who is the hoopy frood I need to sass to make sure this game is released in a timely and towel related fashion?

I watched the film for the first time last month, read the book for the first time last week. This news couldn't come at a better time for me

As a potted petunia I am nervous for this game to come out.

Awesome.  Hopefully it doesn't turn out like a certain ill-fated Battlestar Gallactica game.

Today being Towel Day, I say this was a well timed announcement.

Hopefully the puzzles won't be as punishing.

I expect if this is successful it will soon be subject to Lego franchising.

I do hope this turns out good, as H2G2 is one of the best books out there. And I of course know where my towel is, as I always have it near my desk.

They picked the best possible day to announce this. Here's to hoping it'll be released exactly one year from now.

I am Interested in seeing what kind of game this will be. If it is a game.

I wish I could be more optimistic about this, but I get veeeery uneasy about anybody mucking about with this franchise.  I don't know that anybody trying to make a successful commercial product in this day and age can or even should be capable of doing justice to the original.  They will end up looking very silly, or very dead.  Or both.

UGH i hate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I really dislike its style of humor

Hope this has the essence of the original book and radio series and they avoid the 2005 movie version. I didn't hate that version but it wasn't ideal, although Stephen Fry was rather good as the narrator. Maybe bring him back.

This immediately seemed like more of a Telltale joint, but I have faith that Hothead can hold up under pressure.

 Refreshed and saw the post, but then I also noticed....well, I'll let you figure it out.
