Famed Konami franchise comes to the XBOX 360 with a brand new adventure featuring Raiden.
Raiden will be the main character in "Rising".Earlier today at Microsoft's press conference Konami's Hideo Kojima briefly appeared to announce a new Metal Gear game that will get released on the X360. The game, titled Metal Gear Solid: Rising, will feature Raiden as the main protagonist instead of Solid Snake and will be an entirely new adventure. The game was not formally announced as an X360 "exclusive" so there is potentially some chance that the game might hit the PS3 as well but that is just pure speculation. Details at the moment are thin, with only a quick teaser trailer being shown for the game. Here's the full press release:
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., announced today that Metal Gear Solid: Rising is currently in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft - the first Metal Gear Solid game to launch on the Xbox 360®. Raiden, one of the most popular characters in the Metal Gear Solid universe, will star in the all-new title from Hideo Kojima. Raiden first debuted in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system as a playable character and appeared as a non-playable cyborg in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

@angelkanarias: Last year, when the dude mentioned it's possible only on PS3, he said it's because of Bluray. Gratz on getting Raiden. Im doubtful they would make anything different for PS3 users tho.
Yeah, I am too, to an extent. I was really hoping they'd bring it to 360, but it looks like we get Metal Gear Gaiden, instead. Still looking forward to it.

Yeah it just figures. You know MS would have said something at the press event if it were exclusive. It would be too big of a game, and slap in the face to sony for MS to stay silent on an exclusive MG title.
-_- pissed face. Since the debacle with MGS 2, I've loathed Raiden. Utter disappointment for me. I give up. I can probably find all the MGS4 cut scenes online so I can find out what happens.
Im glad they're finally making a Raiden game. After I finished Metal Gear Solid 4 I really wanted to play as Raiden. Anyways, I know Kojima. After he released the second version of MGS2 and MGS3 he then re-released them for PS2. So I know he will release this title for PS3. The PS3 is his love child.
I like how they always throw on the bullshit descriptions after the names of the consoles. Nobody ever calls it the "Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system" or the "Playstation 3 computer entertainment system" outside of press releases. I also find it odd that they're not consistent with capitalization. The PS2 is "PlayStation 2", and the PS3 is "PLAYSTATION 3". Huh.
Makes sense. Kojima stated MSG4 was designed specifically for the ps3 and to port it he would have to redo the game entirely. Instead you make a new game to go muilt-platform rather than porting a year old game.
ugh, couldn't they just port an already existing game? I don't care about just getting a (numberless) metal gear game, i wanted 4. Oh well, guess i'll just have to wait ten years to play it...

Sony just clearly doesn't know how to hold onto exclusives.

good job being blown away by something nobody ever said. nowhere does it say exclusive. this is a multiplat and will launch on both systems. even if it was a timed exclusive they would have said so.
the masterpiece is still a ps3 only game, and theres a good reason why. it cant be done on 360.

Well we know what about it exactly? If there was a trailer or something I think you'd see excitement, but other than it's confirmed to be a Raiden game we don't know anything else.

I'd say you're right but he gained a lot of cred in MGS4. Even if you didn't like the character before you have to admit he was pretty awesome in that game. Not sold on him completely as a character in the way I am on Snake or Big Boss but it'd be fun to play as him.

No 30 minutes in so its exactly a reverse MGS2. And then you play Old-Snake doing a whole lot of nothing between MGS2 and MGS4. It'd be a game about him just getting older, having trouble going to the bathroom and stuff. Then make it exclusive haha. I have both consoles and got nothing against 360 but I think that would be the perfect punishment for everyone who would not shut up about MGS4 coming to the 360.
Just going to put it out there: it's not that sony doesn't know how to hold on to exclusives, it's that microsoft is better at buying stuff out from under other companies. from a business standpoint, it makes sense. either buy the ip first or offer a better deal than the competition without letting them know about it. eventually sony will start doing it too, once they realize what microsoft is doing.
