The only reason he apologised (if it was even the same operator) was because someone slapped him upside the head and said "do you know who the fuck that is?!"
If it had been a regular nobody that didn't have the potential to publicly tell thousands of people their game was a shitty, broken mess, then they would not have thrown out that weak apology and pathetic suck up at the end.

Followers mean nothing.

Greens for HIPPIES!!!
By definition it means more people will see what is being said, so it does mean something, albeit not as much as the fact a public and respected game critic is on the receiving end of some public prickish behaviour@Fredchuckdave said:

It means he's high, just like yours means you're cold.
Spoke too soon as PSN is down as well (though supposedly it's PSN related and not ubisoft). No clue what name colors mean, but I do find neon green a tad revolting (if an amusing color to customize something with so it looks retarded).

So what do red, white and grey mean?

I know that, but it's still not important. Stupid tumblr teens and pornstars have way more followers than Ryan and they aren't important.

Angry/PC pure master race/ Indifference
To be honest, a PR person should never talk to anyone like that, regardless of their occupation. It's just as bad to mouth of to a reviewer than it is to a regular player. Even if a twitter comment is being brutally harsh, which Ryan's was not, the account should not have answered.
In the end, dude should have been less of a jerk. But then again, he could have been from Quebec and in that case he was actually being fairly nice.

The guy said he was sorry, give him a break, his job is probably to answer people bashing their game 24/7.
His job is be the face of the company on the internet/twitter. He, of all the individuals that wanted and could have done the job, was chosen for being able to respond to people online without giving the company a bad image or (especially) getting upset at people who review their games.
The guy was fired. No question. His entire job description was to not make slip-ups like that.
He also had shit flung at him by a member of the games press. Ryan didn't exactly handle himself in the most professional of manners, especially when as a member of the games press, he should know that week 1 launches for multiplayer can have server issues. Hell, for all anyone knows, the servers are located somewhere that Sandy ended up hitting!
So overall, it was unprofessionalism from both sides, but people are going to take one side because the person is an editor here on the site moreso than look at it from both directions.
Ya know, unless all this was just Ryan knowing that he's shouting at someone he knows over at the AC PR...which it doesn't seem like.
Nonetheless, the AC PR on Twitter responded with something a bit more light-hearted with their "one-star review" tweet.
@spankingaddict: But @TheHumanDove said indifference! So it's not knowing what color to dye your hair???
Hm, after Ocean Marketing and Diablo III developers talking shit about David Brevik, this really doesn't merit a response. Even if it was directed at Ryan.

In an industry that puts SO MUCH emphasis on pre-orders and buying on Day 1, I think consumers have every right to be peeved when the thing that's been so hyped and heavily marketed doesn't work.

I agree with Jacob. (Spelled it wrong on purpose.) What games don't have issues on launch week? Hell, some games stay broken. People still complain about Max Payne 3's multiplayer and MW3 spawns are still broken as all fuck. So at least they're working on it.

If you read AC's tweet in the voice of Nolan North -who is obviously writing them- it doesn't seem so bad. Kinda reassuring actually.
That helps for anything :D Man , dat voice !
Yeah, but how many of the people following Ryan are also games critics with large followings? And so on and so on.@Tim_the_Corsair said:

It could be very nasty for Ubi very quickly, even though I don't think Ryan is the kind of sure that would go swinging his journalistic dick around because some random PR dude was a bit of a bitch z

it's all silly, but the dude was being smarmy. i don't think anyone's opinion would change if it wasn't ryan.
@Godlyawesomeguy said:
I get that it's PR, but is it really as big of a deal as people are making it out to be? Guy was rude, apologized, and that should be the end of it, right? Does it really need a thread dedicated to it?
But if there wasn't a thread, then I would have never known and I couldn't wag my finger!
how many GB white knights going HOW DARE YOU INSULT OUR LORD AND SAVIOR RYAN DAVIS flooded there twitter?
Unprofessionalism from someone in another part of the videogame industry? Raise the pitchforks!
Unprofessionalism from GiantBomb? Oh you Giantbomb guys so crazy :D
People taking this so seriously is honestly worrying, let's discuss something more important to humanity like; is rum and orange juice an okay drink for a man to order?

Yes, of course, because anyone calling out our dear leaders on their own bullshit deserves the utmost scorn and condemnation, duh.
@Freshbandito: No, as far as I'm concerned, the only alcohol that belongs in OJ is vodka and tequila. Is it ok for a man, though? At home, yes. In public, eh, debatable.
I've gotten into a pissing contest with the @tacobell account but saddly he/she running the account deleted it before I could get a screen grab. Most twitter accounts by these large corporations are run by what are called "young professionals" basically actors paid to come up with hip and exciting things to say. They're usually pieces of shit. The tacobell account is a prime example of the young professional at work.
it's pretty funny what they came back with once they realized who ryan is.
anyways, whatever. sure they're under a ton of stress right now. shit happens.
