A short but incredibly thrill-packed ride 0

I am not a huge fan of games where you pay $50 for a 6-8 hour experience, but if there is one game that gets this formula right, it might be Call of Duty 4. It is one short-lived but incredibly thrill-packed ride. This game is relentlessly and perfectly paced, and it packs more adrenaline-pumping action into its short campaign than a lot of games can conjure up in twice the time. The level design is superb, and it has the best and most mind-blowing scripted events of any game in years. Even if y...

Yeah, I guess its a great game.... 0

After hearing from countless sources about COD4's unbelievably amazing multiplayer service, and its equally unbelievably amazing single player story line, I decided it was time to give COD4 a try and see why it was that most people believed it was great and all. After hours of trying out the story mode on regular and hardened, and a large number of hours playing lots of intense matches on COD4's multiplayer, I finally realize why it got as much praise as it did. Its just simply a VERY solid prod...

Intense campaign + ridiculous multiplayer = best current gen FPS 0

There's probably not a lot that I can say here that you haven't read already. If you're on the fence about buying this game, and are looking to user reviews for help, then there's no need to read any further. This game should be in any shooter fan's collection. If you're looking for in-depth descriptions of the campaign, the GameSpot and/or IGN reviews do it justice.I ran through Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's single-player campaign in rather short order, and enjoyed almost every second of it. ...

War is hell, but Call of Duty 4 is heaven 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is an outstanding game. The gameplay diverts itself from its WWII counterparts, and it turned out to be a great decision. There is practically nothing wrong with Call of Duty 4. Practically Nothing. The core gameplay is about the same as the previous Call of Duties. The L1 button brings the gun up to your face so you can aim. But what separates this one from the others is the variety in gameplay. The guns are great and realistic and powerful. The single player cam...

dogsounds reviews: Call Of Duty 4 0

I have to say, although I loved Call Of Duty 2 and 3, I had my reservations about 4. Primarily because I love World War Two first-person shooters, and modern-day combat doesn't really float my boat quite as much. But, given all the good words I heard about it, and the fuckton of awards it sucked in like a bulimic at a cake factory, I could put it off no longer. And I have to admit, I had started to get "the itch" - the little voice saying "Go on, try it, you know you want to". And as I saw it in...

Call of Duty 4 Review 0

Platforms:PC,PS3,Xbox 360 Okay so I have Just finished this game and all i can say is that it is absolutely stunning. Now I know this game came out quite a while back but I just recently purchased my Xbox 360 and this happened to be the first game I bought with it. All I can say is that this is an amazing game and is one of the best I have ever played. Story: Usually the story in first person shooter games is entirely unimportant but in the case of Call of Duty 4 the crea...

Easily the greatest COD to date. 0

Although Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes place in a different war then all previous call of duty games, it gives you a unique vizualization of todays combat style without goiong over board with unrealistic technology. As far as graphics go i couldn't ask for anythings better making the game anything but bland. If there is any downside to COD4 then it would have to be that it is far too short leaving gamers craving for more....

COD4: Streamlined 4.0 0

SingleplayerCall of Duty 4's campaign is extremely short. I'll get that out of the way. In fact, I would have half a mind to not recommend this because of it's length, if not for the ridiculously streamlined gameplay, and amazing production values. You'll be gripping your controller from start to finish. It is very well balanced and the pacing is phenomenal, on par of a high-quality summer blockbuster. You'll never be in one place too long, and the game never outlives it's welcome. It is over in ...

A deep game that will last you months. 0

I'm a little late to the party. Call of Duty 4 came out almost 2 years ago now, but it is absolutely worth anyone's time if you haven't already dove into its intense campaign and deep multiplayer. The campaign is short and will take you probably around 5 or 6 hours on a regular difficulty, but the quality of that campaign is great. The game is very scripted and linear, but this didn't bother me too much due to just how much fun it is; and if you're familiar with the Call of Duty series and are ev...

Call of duty 4 isnt game of the year. its the game of the decade. An Engaging and Cinematic Masterpiece 0

By the time the news of Modern Warfare 2 being made was released i hadn't touched Call of Duty 4 for about a year. I decieded that i would go back and relive the memories of a great shooter. But when i first played it i did not realise just how great it was. Up until now Infinity Ward was going fine with the whole WW2 thing. But there is only so many games that you can play. When they announced that they would be updating the franchise to a more modern setting, there was a huge amount of excitem...

COD 4 : Modern Warfare 0

Call of duty 4 is a brilliant action game for anyone who likes first person shooters. You take the role of soap who enrolls in 22 SAS. You also play Sergeant Paul Jackson who is part of USMC 1st Force Recon deployed to the Middle East, and the player controls Jackson's character during five levels of Act 1. Captain/Lieutenant Price is an officer of 22 SAS who is playable in a flashback. This game flows really well and is worth the money. It gives hours of game play and some challenging levels. I...

The very definition of a FPS 0

The Call of Duty series finally moves beyond WWII and its the best move they could have made. Infinity Ward has crafted the best first-person shooter I have ever played on any platform. Presentation: Graphics are beautiful and at a silky smooth frame rate. The sounds of the battlefield are clear and intense. You truly feel your in the front lines. Gameplay: It is simply done right. The gunfights are just right with some very fun side missions such as playing as a sniper in a ghillie suit. The...

Best single player FPS game of 2007 0

This game's single player is brilliant. It's short, but the gameplay is really enjoyable, and the regenerating health system works beautifully here. Some missions require you to snipe, others to use aircraft weaponry, and still others to search for an enemy leader. The environments are realistic and immersive, and the cut scenes are top notch, with excellent audio acting. My favorite part are the stealth sniping missions in Chernobyl, which are scripted beautifully and make for one of the best m...

Beautiful is spelled "M-o-d-e-r-n W-a-r-f-a-r-e" 0

Call of Duty 4 is here. This is the third game in the Call of Duty franchise created by developer Inifinty Ward (Call of Duty 3 was created by Treyarch respectfully) While many felt that the Call of Duty series was going no where, Infinity Ward decides to take a very smart and rewarding path. Why stick to WWII? WWII is an over used genre. Even though the games to come out for that genre have been great. It felt like everyone knew what was bound to happen before playing the game. Call of Duty 4 i...

A bit over-rated by the gaming media, but solid if not flawed. 0

Call Of Duty 4 was released last year to overwhelming praise, a bit undeserved in my mind, but not something I took into account when reviewing the game.     Call Of Duty 4 as you probably know is a first person shooter from Infinity Ward in their long running Call Of Duty series. The single player game plays out as a fairly standard FPS that we've seen done to death since the original Call Of Duty . It's not a bad formula to say, but after Call Of Duty, Call Of Duty: United Offensive, and C...

New Battlefield 0

In Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare we will incarnate two soldiers throughout a conflict of world-wide scale. We will alternate the missions of a member of the British SAS with those of an America Marine; in a wonderful example of narrative episodes, simple and excellently treated. The game transfers us to a contemporary time at which several governments are being overthrown by rebellious groups, and a nuclear threat extends with himself. Our rol, of course, will consist of releasing hostages, par...

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb 0

Regardless of your opinion of World of Warcraft, you can’t deny the game is a juggernaut. Sure, it may not have implemented many new ideas, but what it offered was a package of elements so refined, it may as well be purest heroin to people who like that kind of game. Call of Duty 4 has managed to do the same thing with the FPS. Sure, you’ve played the modern combat shooter before in other games; you probably already know by heart the assortment of weapons you’ll wield throughout both single play...

Short but unforgettable 0

Call of Duty 4 is the latest installment in the Call of Duty series. The setting for games one through three with three separate titles on the PS2, Xbox, and PSP, has been World War Two. Also out of these six games, only 2 of them have actually appeared on the PC. Infinity Ward has finally brought back the CoD series to the PC. Instead of fighting on the frontlines of WWII, CoD 4 takes place in modern times, hence the title Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat. This review only is a review of the s...

COD4 takes a step away from the WW2 setting, and does it well. 0

It has taken a couple of iterations by Infinity Ward and Treyarch; but this time Infinity Ward finally got the hit. After several weeks of the Beta back in August and September, Call of Duty 4 has finally come, and for the most part, has stayed in many consoles. The ever-so popular World War II franchise has shifted away from that setting, into a Modern setting. It proves to be a fresh, new, and exciting setting to play in. A good, yet short, single player prepares you for the oh-so addicting a...

Kaiser's COD4 Review 0

This game is one of the best games ever made - PERIOD. From the very first intro of the single player action to the 10th prestige level for the online multiplayer, its the best game going. Countless hours, countless kills, countless deaths but they are combine to great one of the best games of modern gaming. The COD4 engine is beyond good - its extremely sound and the team at IW did a great job creating this game. They took a chance on modern combat and nailed it out of the gate....

Short Single Player, Tried and True Multiplayer 0

Graphics:- Lighting, and texturing looks extremely well done. Looking at the weapons they have a visable mass in the game. The Lighting effective give a great amount of grit, but at the same time give a good mixture of pallet to please the eyes.- The physics in the game are now up to par with STALKER, and its punishingly difficult weapons handling, and the terrain is not as destructive as Crysis in some cases, but that doesn't mean that garbage isn't flying by and vehicles aren't blowing up arou...

The multiplayer alone makes Call of Duty 4 a must-buy. 0

Infinity Ward have finally abandoned the World War II setting that the series is known for, and gone into the 21st century with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. While the campaign is criminally short, the quality of that campaign combined with an addictive multiplayer plus some really slick visuals make Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare the best first-person-shooter of 2007. Even though the campaign is short, the game covers a lot of ground in the 5-7 hours it will take you to complete the game, de...

COD4 keeps you coming back for more.  The ranking system, the weapon unlocks and the challenges you get XP points for are all great and add to the experience without taking your focus from the core gameplay. The single player game is great with some new twist in game modes and missions.  The meat of COD4 is on-line.  I think playing the story mode will prepare you for on-line.   The replay value for COD4 is unlimited because of the great maps and modes you play on-line.If you enjoy FPS games and ...

Isn't War Fun? 0

Call of Duty was one of the best WWII games of all time; it was also one of the best shooters of 2003. When Infinity Ward stated that they were over WWII for the next Call Duty game, Call of Duty 4, it made us wonder how well the game would transfer. Let me say with out a doubt, Call of Duty 4 is easily one of the best packages of the year. It has everything, a powerful story, awesome graphics, superb sound, an awesome single player campaign, and an even better multi-player to back it up, Call ...

Flawless Victory 0

The only FPS in my lifetime of gaming I have spent more enjoyable time with was 007 Goldeneye.  I believe this game was a triumph, both in single player story telling, multiplayer replayability, and overall polish.  Like has been said by some reviewers, although it did not reinvent the FPS it for the first time did just about everything you could imagine right.  Since its release I have compared every FPS I have touched to it, it is a benchmark in the industry for me....

Best shooter of '07 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare arrived late 2007 alongside a whole range of other highly anticipated games, and while it could have been overshadowed easily, it wasn’t and for a very good reason. Call of Duty 4 is a fantastic example of just how awesome first person shooters can still be, and in my opinion was a real triumph all around.   Call of Duty has in the past, had its roots firmly in the WWII era, however, as the sub-title suggests, Infinity Ward have decided to tackle a modern theatre ...

After not delving into the WW2 call of duty games since call WW2 wasnt my thing, I came into Call of duty 4 fellling quit optomistic that this wasnt going to be any old school WW2 game. However this game took be by surprise. After spending a short but engrossing 5 hours on single player I was in for a surprise after I'd finished it. Endless amount of my time and many of my freinds time has been spent on this highly edictive , moden day shoter which keeps me and my freinds engroused for days. Thi...

Scripted sequences again? Oh boy! 0

This game actually blows ass. I tried it on the hardest difficulty setting and it wasn't bad, until I got to the TV station. WTF? Infinite respawning enemies, who spam grenades at you every 3 seconds. Why should I try and play it realistically when you give me no cover system and infinite enemies magically coming out of a door. The enemies just stream out of that door and never stop coming. I can sit back and snipe them and snipe them and kill again and again and they'll never lessen. Apparently...

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 0

Infinity Ward returns to the franchise they created and brings it into the present with its best entry yet. The gameplay is a little tweaked and improved, but it isn't any leap forward there that makes it easily my favorite in the series, it's all about the presentation. Previous games were more or less historically based since they took place during World War II, so there was little room for them to surprise you in any meaningful way. But this one has its own storyline, one that manages to be m...

A Must-Buy for Shooter Fans 0

Call of Duty is back and better than ever. Ditching the WWII theme in favour of “Modern Warfare” is certainly what makes this instalment stand out from the rest. With the change in theme you get to play as either a British SAS soldier or an American Marine - with the roles interchanging as the single player progresses. There is a marked difference between playing as either - as a marine you will find yourself with dozens of fellow soldiers at your side, taking on the enemy in a middle eastern se...

Call of Duty 4 being the 7th game in the Call of Duty franchise feels excellent it combines enough new concepts to old concepts to create a blend of awesome that unfortunately gets cut off at the INCREDIBLY short single player campaign which is a great example of quality over quantity which feels like an incredibly insane action movie in 4D where you want to get off but something is compelling you not to which is where the game then flows to the Multiplayer.Multiplayer is really where the game s...

Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 0

The best shooter I've ever played.    Modern warfare is with out a doubt one of the best call of duty games I've ever played. The campaign while short seems like it was enough, each level, stage, whatever kept the story going, there were no useless boring bits a fluff. In addition to the compelling story and fantastic level design there is a difficulty for every level of gamer from recruit (grandmas could walk through this crap) to veteran (you'll cry, trust me :D). Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) Review 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3)How many World War II games are there? Think about it. A lot. Way too many to count. And so WWII now sometimes feels like "Been there, done that". The guys down at Infinity Ward realized that, and did something risky: changing the Call of Duty formula. It was a huge risk, failing could ruin the series. But IW tried anyway. And they succeeded.CoD 4 is set in a fictional war against the Middle East. A war with 15,000 nukes at stake. You switch off from t...

With a short-but-sweet campaign, and incredible multiplayer, COD4 0

The WWII shooters thing has been truly overdone now, and Infinity Ward has picked up on that, which is why they decided to make Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Forget everything you know about Call of Duty, because you are now no longer fighter in war-torn Europe, but now the Middle East as well as Russia. The single-player campaign is relatively short, and takes around four to six hours to complete, assuming you've played shooters before. The missions are diverse and always feel new. You'll find...

Call of Duty 4 0

First of all, let's start off by saying that if you like Call of Duty 2, or even Call of Duty 3 (made by a different developer), you will love the fourth entry in the series. Call of Duty 4 is an outstanding game that you'll enjoy if you're a fan of first-person shooters or fun, for that matter. Let's start off with the options. The game features a campaign mode as well as an arcade mode, which is unlocked after completing campaign on any difficulty. The arcade mode is much like Halo 3's scori...

A giant Dissapointment. This is Not OK 0

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the latest edition to Activision's long-running Call of Duty series.  Usually this brand name is set in the 1940s during WW2.  However Infinity Ward has realized the falling of WW2 games and has made one of the games smartest decisions; move the game into the modern day.  While this brings us to a time we can better understand with and fancier guns; did the game suffer or benefit from this.  A little but mostly no.Story-Unusual for a shooter is that the story mo...

Great storyline and locations that don't let you get bored for a second. Not bad graphics, though I never got used to the green smoke thing. They should fix this any time soon. It's really annoying. :)The one thing I didn't like is the fact that the guys the game is throwing to you are like...thousands. Which could have been fine, if it wasn't the fact that you can kill up to six or seven baddies before they manage to hurt you badly enough to force you look for cover. Bad guys just tend to die e...
