WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You might think that an expansion for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 would simply contain most of the same characters and actors found in the initial release and be done with it. You would be way wrong on that one. EA has announced the new cast for Red Alert 3: Uprising. These new cats will be joining returning "fan-favorites," Gemma Atkinson and Ivana Milicevic.

It's mostly a bunch of people I haven't heard of, like James Chung (he's going to be in that great-looking Dragonball movie!!!!), Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, and Holly Valance. No idea. But now we come to the payoff.

Malcolm McDowell will appear as Rupert Thornley, the president of the European Union. You may remember that this isn't McDowell's first FMV video game appearance, as he did some great work in the Wing Commander series. The press release EA put out actually notes this, which does my heart good because it means that someone over there still remembers that Wing Commander exists. Also... they should make the Kilrathi a playable race in the Red Alert universe. At this point, why not, right? Cat people can drive tanks too, ya know.

The game will also feature retired pro wrestler Ric Flair as Commander Hill. I feel like I don't even need to describe to you how awesome this is. And to prove that when you get Ric Flair on a project, you get the complete package, here's what he had to say about his inclusion:

When I found out that EA wanted me to be part of Command & Conquer, all I could say was ‘Woooooooooooo!’”

Yep. Woo, indeed.

Uprising will be available as a digital download exclusively for the PC this March at a going price of $19.99.

Oh, also? Here. You're welcome.

Not an RTS fan, so I will just watch the cut scenes in a few months on youtube.

Wooooooooo!  I love Flair, everything from his over the top gestures to his lisp, he'll make a great addition.

Wooooooooooooo. This is entertainment.

Half robot, half Ric Flair.

That's pretty dope, I'm most excited about Malcolm McDowell though!

That video made my day. Woooo!

I'm pretty tired of RTS'es, but I may give Red Alert 3 a look now. Holly Valance is also smokin' hot, I haven't heard about her since the Dead or Alive movie.

Holly Valance is hot, or was pretty hot. I haven't seen her in a good while. Used to be in everybodies favourite aussie soap 'neighbours'.

Her eventual wiki page will probably get some love in Gemma Atkinson style when the expansion is released.

Will the European Union's troops sing "Singing in the Rain" as they violate other faction's women?  I'd buy this game if they do.

This franchise is dead to me.  They have killed it, burnt it's corpse and pissed on the ashes.  The expansion setup sounds even dumber than the OC, somehow.

Red Alert 1 amounted to more than just a "Ho-Ho! Aren't we Funny!?" circle jerk of has-been (never-were) actors.  Granted, the cutscenes in 1 were lol amateurish, but they really weren't as camp as everybody seems to remember.  Check out the one where the Spy rescues Tanya, it's totally bad ass.

The basic red alert setting is still good (ie. no WW2), but the further from that they get, the stupider the series becomes. They should just remove 90% of the 'Wacky!' units - they are irritating - and introduce some RTS gameplay advances from the last ten years.  I wanna see Red Alert get back to a semi-realistic what-if setting (like RA1) rather than the Crazy Fun Time! anime setting of 3.

Any ideas how RA3 sold?

WOOOOOO!!!  Dude, that story totally made my day!

#16 Posted by DavidSnakes (675 posts) -

Oh, yeah, there's also some new gameplay stuff.

But Alex DeLarge is in our game dude!!!!!!!!!!!

#17 Posted by Death_Burnout (3792 posts) -

I might actually have to get this just for that!

Style & Profile! Wooooooooooooooooo!

Heres hoping he just falls over foward deliberately for no reason, regardless that it's possibly out of character.

Holly Valance is from one of those great game-to-movie films DOA.

This is on my list, I will get it eventually and this is making it even more intertesting!

Now all we need is him dropping an elbow on a suit jacket or military uniform. Or maybe even an enemy soldier.

#25 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11423 posts) -

Yes? I hope Greg Kasavin has a cameo appearance in one of the FMV cutscenes. That would make me actually want to buy the game.

Holly Valance is ex soap star from Australia was in show called Neighbours and had a few pop music hits here in the UK and over there and now wants to make it in Hollywood as a actor. If you goggle her she not bad looking to say the least.   She was in the DOA flim (the worst film I saw in 2007 in fact the only reason I watch it was that I was stuck inside of backpacker places in Sydney when I was in Australia and it was national holiday everything was closed and it was raining It was the only dvd along with  teenage ninja muntant hero turtales the really bad latest live action version) So i watched it and almost had to smash my owen face in as my brain nearley shut down its that bad. It would have been fine if there had been better over the top action and T&A but its so dull with no plot .

#44 Posted by Pat (69 posts) -

wow, this game must be about to get a lot more limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', and wheelin' dealin'

#45 Posted by HartKnight (81 posts) -

Wow! I remember that pretty bad feud. I started watching wrestling again shortly before this. It is pretty cool that he's in the game.

#46 Posted by Ghostin (369 posts) -

I saw that happen at a bus stop once... that was one wierd sojourn.

Oh, good God.

#49 Posted by Spiritof (2017 posts) -

I actually met Ric Flair (and Bobby Heenan) randomly in the Phoenix airport about 15 years ago. Greatest layover ever. Flair is an AWESOME guy to talk to and he's a perfect fit for a Red Alert expansion.

Still sucks that it's going to be download only... I'd buy it on day one if it came to retail.
