I can understand some people not thinking this type of RPG is their cup of tea but to totally dismiss the title in the PS3 game of the year awards shows that nobody really gave it a chance.  Please tell me you guys at least made it past 1-1, 1-2 and another boss before you decided it was bad or too tough to swallow b/c this game is easily the best game of the year on PS3 and tied or second to Dragon Age as the best RPG of the year by far.  What does everyone else think?

Jesus Christ...enough with the Demon's Souls. They don't like it. I think it's time to get over it.

People have opinions. You may not agree with them. Get over it. If it makes you feel any better I think the game looks pretty interesting even though i haven't even played it yet.

Here's the reason: they're only 4 guys.  When two of them know this is very much not the game they like and one of them is apathetic to it, it doesn't get much attention.
 
Simply speaking they had no obligation to give it a chance and yes it's a shame that it happened because it frankly looks like a game I really want to play but yeah.  Makes sense to me why they "dismissed" that game which they didn't really.

Yeah I won't pretend to have loved it initially at all and I agree everyone has their own opinion.  Not yelling at them just was curious there was nobody that took an interest in it at ALL.  That is all.  There is nothing for me to "get over" as I never brought this subject up before just was curious.

It ain't their thing.  I'm sure you don't play games that don't interest you.  That is the case here.

I recently got into this website and their quick looks have given me better inside looks at games then any other site.  It just seems weird they have given chances to so many other weird or tough games but not even reviewed Demon's Souls. Rogue Warrior is more deserving of a review?  I guess I shouldn't have brought it up some people are touchy about it.

if you ran a gaming site and didnt nominate a game i thought should win hands down then i could say the same thing to you. opinions are opinions man.

I love Demon's Souls, But that's the kind of game I play for myself. 
I would be much happier with it being MY game of the year than anyone elses.

They're not interested. See, the conflict you're having is normally you just put a cartoonish  stereotype on people on the net who dismiss something you like, but in this case you would be characterizing the GB crew, people you know and like. And you don't know what to do. And just walking away, leaving it alone, never even occurred to you.

It's the same reason they don't play sport games. You don't force yourself to play games you have no interest in.

I said it before and I'll say it again...Demon's Souls is poo.

I don't think they spent enough time going through it, and felt a little short on time. Seeing as the game is as challenging as it is, turned them away for some more quality time on games that required a lot less devotion. I think they all liked it in some sort of way, but it's underlying difficulty just pushed them away.  
 
I'm not puttng down Demon Souls in any possible way. I really don't believe Uncharted 2 would make my top game of the year (being a little dissapointing), but if you saw Gamespot giving Demon souls game of the year, I do think they were just trying to make it so Uncharted 2 didn't win every award on every site or magazine.

Its just an opinion.

I love Demon's Souls, but I can understand if it's not a persons cup of tea.

To me, the Giantbomb awards came down to simply what games they enjoyed playing, not necessarily what games are the best, or what games deserve to win. Watch Drew's reason for giving "Borderlands" his personal Game of the Year, if you don't believe me.
 
Is there anything wrong with that?  Not really, different gaming site staffs have different preferences.  It is professional?  I'm not one to say.  I agree with you on Demon's Souls, it's a wonderful game, it's just not their cup of tea.   
 
We'd be fools to believe that there is not some sort of bias on every single gaming site, including this one.  That's the beauty of having lots of site choices, you get to take in lots of different opinions.  GameSpot awarded Demon's Souls both PS3 game of the year and overall game of the year.  Again, a site with different opinions, and nothing wrong with that. 
 
It's also pointless to try to convince someone a game is great, if they really don't like it, even if it's a well crafted game.  Different people have different taste.  I, for one, can't stand Modern Warfare 2, and no one will convince me otherwise.  The same goes for me trying to convince someone who doesn't like Demon's Souls, that it's game of the year.

Demon's Souls is a prime example for shawcasing why games are mostly developed outside Japan these days.

They approached it the wrong way if you ask me, in an unprofessional way, that's why they really didn't write a review for it. A review should be more than a simple personal opinion, it should rather say if the game is good or not and will it satisfy its target audience. But since they just didn't have the patience to  play the game they thought "The heck with it".

Haven't played it, but I still have intentions to.

The point is not "it's their opinion", the point is their unwillingness to even try it out. As far as I know no one besides Vinny even played it.

Why to even include it in the category (in GOTY podcast) if they're just gonna laugh at it and dismiss it as being crazy because it's not in their comfort zone?

stop hating on the TC its a reasonable question. What if they didnt put MW2 on their list, people would have questions. I agree, i think demons souls is a great game, its coop at least deserves mention. and im sad to see it not on any list.

I don't like sports so even if this years Madden is the best Football game ever made I know I won't play it since I don't like football and I don't think people would give me crap for dismissing it because of that. So even if Demon's Souls is a fantastic game (Wouldn't know never played it) I would not expect people who don't like that kind of game to play it before saying that their not interested. 

well they clearly just don't like it. plenty of people love it and it was the editors GOTY on gamespot. just different people have different opinions
