I'd be stoked! Like, really stoked! But... also kinda worried, cause they can't change it TOO much or it wouldn't be FFVII anymore... Maybe tweak combat a little, but they'd need to keep materia (of course), limit breaks, a WORLD MAP that you run around and explore, random encounters, and all those different methods of travel. And all the old side quests and mini-games and secrets... And maybe add some new ones!

The seventh numbered entry in the Final Fantasy franchise brings the series into 3D with a landmark title that set new industry standards for cinematic storytelling. Mercenary Cloud Strife joins the rebel group AVALANCHE in their fight against the power-hungry Shinra Company, but their struggle soon becomes a race to save the entire Planet from an impending cataclysm.
How would you react if a Final Fantasy 7 remake is announced?
I have to agree I would be EXCITED, and after the tech demo, why not go all out and remake the game??? I know many people that would buy a ps3 just to experience the emotional rollercoaster that is ff7

You really think they need to keep random encounters? Really?
if they made it look like advent children i would be really excited....and yes random encounters to suck big time
"I'd think - "I'd buy it" . Half of me would think that it could be a really, really good remake and another half of me would think that it could go wrong. (emphasis on COULD)It could very well go really wrong.
"
They could make it like FFXII and screw it all up
I would cry. I vote to let the masterpieces rest in peace. With the way Square Enix is headed I wouldn't be surprised if it was either half-assed or went to the DS. *Shivers* And that is a day I don't want to see. I honestly don't think S.E. could re-capture the brilliance that was FFVII in a remake.
I'd be pissed because I'd never hear the end of it. But if it meant that people would eventually shut up about that stupid game then do it. Do it quickly.

If they did make it for the DS with slightly spruced graphics and the voice actors from Advent Children for the cutscenes I dont think it would turn out bad. I know a lot of people would be disappointed considering the FF7 PS3 trailer square released a while back though.
My initial reaction would be "If I didn't loathe turn based game play right down to my core, would be super excited about this". However I do loathe turn based game play right down to my core so I would be briefly saddened about missing out on an otherwise worthy game and then push it to the back of my mind and forget about it.

Fwd: DKS3713 is an Anagram: DKS3713 = REMAKE7
Proof that VII is being remade ?
I would laugh and know that square no longer has innovation in the company they are the EA of rpgs they remake, port, rerelease and thats it.
Remaking a JRPG is extremely pointless. I already know what's going to happen. What's the point in playing? Enjoying the exiting gameplay?
I'd actually love it if they released the game so I could play it on my ps3 or xbox, but kept it as it was - all old school. For me, one of the reasons I go back to it even now is the old school nostalgia charm. If it was 'remade' fully, as in all new graphics, gameplay, etc, I'm not sure I'd be as excited: I've seen that story and I'd only be endlessly comparing it to my experience of the origional. It just sucks having to have my psone, ps2, ps3 and xbox 360 all at hand if I want to play my games. I usually don't, and so I need to plan to decide to want to replay psone games about a month in advacne so I can go to Scotland and get the bloody thing! I'm loving all the potential of making full back catelogues downloadable for 360 and ps3. :)
Actually, I wouldn't mind if the cut scenes were redone a bit - I know Advent Children was basically pretty fanservicec animation, but some more of that mixed in would maybe be quite cool.
Also, I don't mind turn based combat, but if you don't like it, don't play it. Simple as that. Don't bitch about it.
I don't see the point of playing it again. If I want to play FF7 I will play it, why should I buy it again? Not a bad idea for Sony to help boost some sales for the PS3 though. I would probably buy it, but still. With the way things seem to be going, watch them remake it as an Xbox 360 exclusive.
"I would laugh and know that square no longer has innovation in the company they are the EA of rpgs they remake, port, rerelease and thats it."Do you ever have anything good to say about anything? I don't think I've read a single post where you weren't attacking something, hating on something, or saying something is bad.
then you need to search i have quite a few threads, AS for that you cant really say that when quite a few people in this thread agree with me on that, its the same on the rpg character hate thread im the 3rd person to say they hate cloud. Im not alone is my dislike of square Squre went to crap after ff6.
While I understand a huge population of gamers are nostalgic for this game they do realize it is one of the worst entries in the Final Fantasy universe right?
I would much rather see a full fledged remake of 4, 5, and 6. 4, and 6 IMO are the best stories in the game, and 5 has probably the most fun gameplay. With those three games the Final Fantasy series could just call it quits.
I bet Sony is doing everything in their power to lobby for this game, and Squares new properties are falling pretty flat. It all seems likely to me.
I would say to myself "That's pretty cool, I'll play it when it comes out" then continue on with my day.
"I would laugh and know that square no longer has innovation in the company they are the EA of rpgs they remake, port, rerelease and thats it."Uh...you should have been laughing nonstop for the last 3-4 years then.
"WilliamRLBaker said:I have been but a ff7 remake would cement it pernamently."I would laugh and know that square no longer has innovation in the company they are the EA of rpgs they remake, port, rerelease and thats it."Uh...you should have been laughing nonstop for the last 3-4 years then."
I'd be pretty happy. That being said, I actually want FF13 much more than FF7. As much as I want to see a remade cloud and high defintion midgar, I'd rather get FF13 and Versus first.
Because honestly speaking, FF13 is obviously made, at least from what we can tell, to be a sucessor to FF7.
Really would like to see the Golden Saucer again in FF13. Yea, I know, it's small, but it'd be pretty neat for that to make a cameo appearence
It's going to come out eventually though. I'd imagine it's going to come out much later though.
"As for me, I love the original, have beaten it to death."Whoa, tough love. Hope I don't see you on the 6 o'clock news. ;)
I think Squeenix is smart enough to realize that it will be impossible to live up to fan expectations, no matter how much money and effort they pour in to it. How many people here refuse to watch Advent Children with the English voices? You want every cutscene fully voiced? Och aye laddie! Odds of dual language tracks are slim to none, just like other titles.
The interesting thing is that they are remaking the original sprite games with polygons that resemble FF7. Once FF5 & FF6 gets this treatment, you could say that the first 7 games are visually coherant. If at that point they catapult FF7 forward, it should be quite a sight to see.
I would go about my regular life for a few days before suddenly realizing what I read and suddenly turn into a Japanese schoolgirl.
