20 year old 'killled by Xbox'

A LAD of 20 has been killed by a blood clot caused by playing his Xbox for up to 12 hours at a time.

A post mortem revealed that Chris Staniforth - addicted to games such as Halo - had suffered a deep vein thrombosis. It can be triggered by sitting in one position for long spells.

Stunned dad David, of Sheffield, said: "He lived for his Xbox. I never dreamed he was in any danger.

Technically, he was killed by a blood clot, not his Xbox. Fuck sensationalist headlines.

He wasn't killed by an Xbox, he was killed by addiction that happened to be for Xbox.

If the Xbox shot DVD's out of its tray or something then yeah, it would've killed him. But thats not the case.

Damn it, I thought his Xbox shot CDs at him.

That is one weird ass article. The picture captions eventually succumb to like it's reading down a profile sheet. Was that also really the best picture they could of gotten for the LAD (is that an acronym I'm missing?) The 'Tragic' underneath the mug shot almost comes across to me as being sarcastic when put under the half-sneer of L.A.D 
 
Anywhoo it's terrible for the family to suffer such a loss, and this kind of article is frankly like it's adding insult to injury.

People die the same way by sitting in an airplane. It's not that big a deal.

I thought it either fell on him, or exploded.

Yeah, I assumed they were talking about an original Xbox that had perhaps fallen on top of him. Those things were beasts, taking a blow to the head from one could certainly do some damage.

Maybe I just have a short attention span, but can people really sit and just play a game for that amount of time? Surely he knew doing that regularly wasn't going to be good for his health..

Something tells me they don't post the same sensational stories (or any stories at all) when someone dies of DVT while flying in those cramped fucking planes or while sitting at a sedentary job all day.

His parents should have forced him to go outside more often.

Someone needs to tell the GaintBomb ExtraLife 24-hour game marathon Team that their efforts could actually be KILLING people.

When you turn it on you are actually supplying power to its murder sensor, you're helping it kill you.

This would never have happened on a PS3...

Really though I am sorry and I hope he has moved on to a better place.

I can't decide if this is a good or bad way to go.

Xbox does not seem to be the cause of death here.
