PS2, no contest.
Based solely on game library, what is your favorite Sony console? (Question of the Day 8-28-10)
PS2.
It had Soul Calibur 3, Mercenaries 1, God of War and GTA 3 on it, which was good enough for me.
The PS2 just had so much going for it with so many great games that i have to choose it. Heck it's still an important system in my house (since my PS3 does not have backwards compatibility) and a necessity if i want to play RPG's. Shadow Hearts, Persona 4, FFX, Suikoden III, etc. Not to mention the Onimushas, DMCs, etc. Just so much good stuff on that system.
This is a tough one, but I gotta give it to the PS1. Namely because it has FF7, 8, 9 and RE 1, 2, 3, Metal Gear Solid, Dino Crisis, as well as a lot of personal favorites like Fear Effect, Alundra, Lunar, Legend of Dragoon, Legend of Legaia, Symphony of the Night, Klonoa and tons of others.
I have to say PS3. Valkyria Chronicles, Flower, Pixel Junk Eden, Uncharted 1 and 2 and Infamous are just too fantastic for the PS1 or PS2 library to surpass. Not to mention Warhawk, which most never played but I played for 700 hours.
PS2.
GTA III/VC/SA, Personas 3+4, Devil May Cry 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, God of War 1+2, NEED I SAY MORE.
The PlayStation 3.
Most of the for the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2 that were considered good, I got on my PC or Nintendo 64 or Saturn or Dreamcast.
The good games for Playstation 3 are specifically the exclusives, and they are all absolutely amazing. Were it not for Microsoft buying up contracts to have a lot of the old third-party stuff released on their console, Sony probably wouldn't have stepped up their game so much. Competition has truly proved beneficial to the consumer in this case.
Man that was an easy one. Ps1 had a shitload of good games but the PS2 had one of the best libraries ever. I just hope the PS3 continues the legacy.
PS1 just because I enjoyed those games more. PS2 does have one of the greatest libraries ever though.
I'm surprised not to see the PSP in the poll choices. Not because I intended to vote for it, mind; I just kind of expected the option to be there.
My vote went to the PlayStation 2 without hesitation. In the last eight and a half years my two iterations of the little black box have brought me more happy memories and incredible experiences than I could possibly count.
" While the PS2 probably has a stronger library, the nostalgic feelings I have for so many PS1 games means I think far more fondly of the PS1 than the PS2. "I completely agree. Of all the games I really like on each Playstation I think the PS1 games are my favorite.
The PS2 in the last console cycle was number one for many good reasons. Sony learned from many mistakes they made with the PS1 and by then had experiance as a game maker. It was the console that made us care about DVD playback. Not to mention all the awesome exclusives it had like Ratchet and Clank ,Sly Cooper ,the Jak series and many others. Other games while they didn't stay exclusive like GTA and Devil May Cry ,they were on the PS2 first and foremost. I still own an awful lot of PS2 games and every once in a while I enjoy going back to them. Sure Sony never had it's Halo killer back on the PS2 but it did have God of War. Oh how that title would break the very genre of hack and slash action games.
Oh, it's not even close. The Playstation 2 has the best library of games, many of which still playable to this day.
" what is this? no psp option. what am I suppose to choose as a joke then? "You should know well by now that I avoid joke answers ;)

Yeah this is why I picked PS1. It started Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, the "modern" Final Fantasy games (7, 8, 9, arguably the best), and I've got so much love for those titles. Plus it's RPG library was killer. But so was the PS2's . . .

I like to keep polls limited. Makes it more interesting if people can't just throw a joke answer in there to destroy the poll. But I wanted to keep this focused on console and make people choose between the three Sony systems. So throwing PSP in the mix would've messed it up. Not that anyone would vote for it . . . ;)
