Well most people will like Modern Warfare of course, but I like World at War because of the zombies and they actually released 2 map packs knowing that they would not make the next COD.
though i absolutely loved World At War's action and missions and story, i'd still have to say Modern Warfare because its just so special and i love it.
Negative, it's not overrated... I just started playing CoD4 and it really is great. Very exciting and fun. It's by far the best multi-player shooter I've played.
Everyone seems to prefer COD4. They're both good games, but considering that the multiplayer is where it's really at, I would go with COD4 because it probably has way more players.

songs being overplayed or games being too popular doesnt ALWAYS mean its overrated.. cod4 is rated 20 out of 5 and thats not overrating because IT DESERVES IT ! the right rating for COD Modern Warfare is even 100 out of 5 and that would still make sense!!! its a top notch superb quality shooter and it deserves every fucking praise it got.
They have been releasing call of duty games for the same number of years it took to actually fight world war 2. Personally, I'm kind of done enjoying games set in that time period.

Yeah same here. i loved World At War but that should be my last WW2 game.
There's really not much of a difference between the two. It all depends on whether you enjoy MP or Single Player. The Single Player on COD4 is better in my opinion, but the MP on WaW is better.

really? I enjoy team fortress 2 more then cod4, none of the less i think both of them are excellent.

I believe that everyone is entitled to like or dislike whatever they want - hence the apparent intense dislike towards WAW from a lot of people. Their reasons are obvious; a return to WWII, a clone of COD4's mechanics... the list goes on. As to why they feel the need to make their hatred known in every topic associated with the game, I could only hypothesize that they either want attention or are trying to anger people on purpose. Either way, those people know who they are, and they really shouldn't even be given the wink of attention they are begging for - really it's a discrete form of trolling if you ask me. That explains why people don't like the game, but then there are certain individuals who claim that World at War is a "terrible" game. That claim is a bit blasphemous and I cannot guess how anyone can insinuate that a game like World at War (Halo falls under this category frequently as well, I might add) is on par with such actually bad games like Hour of Victory and that God-awful Yaris game. Again, my only guess is they are trying to get a rise out of fans of the game, or their severe fanboyism (I said it, go ahead and silently pass your judgement) has really, really gotten to their heads.
@kmdrkul: I completely agree with damn near everything you said. Everyone is entitled to their reasoning, I just don't understand how they can love one and hate the other. When the game came out, the big complaint was that it was a reskin of COD4 - and for the record, I agree. But if that's the case then how can you possibly 'hate' one and 'love' the other?
@player1: I voted for WaW because it's level progression in Multiplayer is, in my opinion, more robust. I prefer the dogs over the helicopter any day of the week. However, I prefer COD4's airstrike over WaW's airstrike.
I really saw no difference between the two games to justify one being better than the other. It's a matter of preference's. Both offer the EXACT same gameplay.
