Is there a way on the site to download the radio hour Dave did this past friday, for members who weren't able to watch the Live show?

#2 Posted by MattyFTM (14395 posts) -

It will be archived on the site next week.

sweet thanks.

Oh great! I caught a bit of it, I always enjoy Dave talking about how Whiskey Media works (I love him on the Bombcast too).

Dave's a great radio phone-in host.

#6 Posted by Playgu (16 posts) -

Yeah has this been posted yet?

I love daves radio segment, hope this becomes a more regular thing. Was their allso a dave radio segment on the tnt or was it only on the happy hour?

So this hasn't been posted yet, right?

Also, on the latest Bombcast it was confirmed that Dave will be doing the post-show show again this Friday, but Vinny said it might not be archived. Can someone please at least record the audio and share it later? Can't watch it live due to timezones.

wait, how do you even listen to this live?  is it on /chat after the HH?

Yes, except I (and at least a few others) couldn't watch because the stream wasn't working for us.

@Infininja: didn't work on Giant Bomb only..worked on the other Whiskey sites.
@Scarlet_Rogue: I just wish the show was archived as a Podcast each month.

So is this archived on the Whiskey Media JTV? Can anyone tell me how to even access that? The password in /chat never seems to work.

#13 Posted by Green_Incarnate (1789 posts) -

I need to call in sometime. Dave is awesome.

#14 Posted by McGhee (6094 posts) -

What the hell is the point in doing it if it's not archived? I'm willing to bet more people end up watching the archives than the shows live anyway. I was one of the people that talked to Dave on the forums and specifically asked him about doing a call in show, and now I can't even see it.

#15 Edited by MrKlorox (11209 posts) -

This one was super fucking short. I blame the lame-ass callers keeping Dave uninterested. edit: and Vinny doesn't archive it because he doesn't like Dave a whole lot. FACT!

yeah, what the heck?  you still need a password right now to even access their JTV channel.  not cool.

I have no idea of the recording equipment was going at the time or just the livestream.  If it was just the livestream, I don't see how it can be handled elegantly without sending an email or PM to all members which might get annoying.  At least I had the privilege of talking with the lord hardcore.

#18 Edited by 1p (760 posts) -

Is there no archive, again? That's super lame. As a subscriber, i don't want to miss out on subscriber benefits. If the Happy Hour gets archived, why not this?

If there is no official archive, all we'd need is one duder to record the live audio and share it later. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

#19 Posted by Toxin066 (3292 posts) -

Happy Hour is on at a fairly inconvenient time for me, so I normally catch the archived version. Wish Dave's show was archived as well.

Now that is something I could get behind.

indeed.  also, does Dave do the call-ins every HH, or just the free ones?
#23 Posted by StingerMK2 (386 posts) -

managed to catch the first 10-20 mins of it last night, then conked out, thats the problem having the happy hour start at midnight in the UK, normally i just watch the archive, but i really wanted to hear the hardcore dave radio show, hopefully someone captured the audio or something

#24 Edited by Bunnyman (213 posts) -

I too would love an archived version. Possibly in podcast form. I watch the archived HH every week since I can't stay awake for the live version.

#25 Posted by Mars_Cleric (1595 posts) -

I always seem to miss it, what with being asleep or being at work/uni
#26 Posted by PillClinton (3291 posts) -

I would just archive it and put the mp3 up for DL myself if i could actually watch the HH on justin.tv.  But alas, it's password protected (at least the non free ones are), and I'm not even sure if Dave only does the call-ins after free eps or after every ep.  It's kind of an annoying situation...    : [

Do you need the extra super premium membership for the archived Radio Dave Shows? I heard if you have that, Will Smith will come to your how and take stuff apart for you.

#28 Posted by CharlesAlanRatliff (5432 posts) -

I would also be interested in an archive of Dave's show in some format.

I really wish we could get this archived on the site, kind of sucks it isn't.

#30 Posted by ThePickle (4184 posts) -

We need an archive of the past two episodes of the Dave Snider Whiskey Media Happy Show Fun Hour Radio Show (sponsored by Zojirushi) ™

#31 Posted by Tebbit (4465 posts) -

Is this archived anywhere, at all? On Justin TV?

#32 Posted by Megasoum (354 posts) -

Yeah, we need an archive somewhere... I missed the Jeff show last night and I really want to hear that!

Sadly, no. It's on the Whiskey channel and it's locked when there's no livestream. I really wish they would release these somehow, I completely missed it last night.

#34 Posted by Slaker117 (4842 posts) -

Yeah, I too would very much like the chance to watch the show if I missed it live. I will consume any piece of Giant Bomb content I can get, but I can't schedule my life around it.

#35 Posted by SeanFoster (871 posts) -

I'd love to watch last night's show, please upload.

#36 Posted by Megasoum (354 posts) -

Sigh...got a reply back from @Jeff on Formspring... http://www.formspring.me/jeffgerstmann/q/209000915091361054

Oh well..sucks that they do stuff that even paying members can't access... After all it's not like it's tough to do, Justin.tv already does the automatic archive. Now I wish the community could do our own archive just like we have with TNT. By doing that there isn't a way to block non paying members to access it but f that... even paying members are getting screwed right now so it's better than nothing...

#37 Posted by Brackynews (4087 posts) -

I don't quite agree with the logic that just because it can be archived they are obligated to do it. Even in this digital age there's something to be said for "you had to be there moments" and those have value to me as a member too. I'm not going to say "refund me a nickle because I missed it". That's asinine.

With 500+ people watching yesterday, I'm willing to bet one of the subscribers was taping it. But if they are True Duders® they won't share it right away, or else it totally negates the idea of subscriber exclusives.

Remember how narrowly we avoided getting staggered subscriber half-podcasts. Don't try to go back there for any reason.... please.

#38 Edited by 1p (760 posts) -

@Megasoum:

I also saw that on Jeff's Formspring, and i'm bummed about it.

Plan B, then: All we need is one guy to record live audio of the radio show and distribute it to subscribers later. Should not be hard to do at all. I would do it myself, but the whole reason i'm not watching it live is because it's in the middle of the night for me.

Who's up for it?

Also, did anything noteworthy happen on any of the radio shows they've done since the original Dave marathon? Since i'll probably never get to hear those now.

edit: Megasoum - the download links could be sent out via PM to subscribers only. There would have to be a request thread and it's not an automated solution, but it would be a way to give it to subscribers only.

#39 Posted by Zero_ (1973 posts) -

Archiving it for member only view would certainly make it another incentive for people to suscribe... not a huge one, but there are some Dave fans out there

#40 Posted by Zatoichi (33 posts) -

It doesn't seem to fit very well with the whole idea of getting new subscribers for the world tour to have content that you can't access due to time differences. Enjoyed the Dave radio phone in bits I caught back during Whiskeypocalypse, but I'm not going to stay up till 1am to catch it. Not going to whinge too much, as I still think there's plenty of value in the subscription, but don't see why they wouldn't put it up barring some technical reason why not. Hell, there's plenty of us listening to multiple of hours of rambling podcasts each week (let alone the countless hours of E3 'casts) so there's clearly people who'd listen, and it's not like video where there's a high overhead in providing it. Just seems like an odd decision.

#41 Posted by Megasoum (354 posts) -

@Bib: Good idea, a request thread could totally work.

I really don't get the "It's not meant to be lasting content" argument... How is it less than the happy hour or TNT? I mean, it's not like I'll want to go back and watch the 6th mortal kombat TNT 2 years from now...

#42 Edited by 1p (760 posts) -

@Megasoum:

@Zatoichi:

Exactly my thoughts, gents. I don't understand the decision. Alas, similar to the TNT archives, it seems to only be a small subset of the already small-ish subscriber base that cares about an archive of these shows.

I hope we can get a solution nevertheless.

#43 Posted by Megasoum (354 posts) -

@Bib: Another reply from Jeff on Formspring... http://www.formspring.me/jeffgerstmann/q/209405303551198172

AFAIK there is no reason to have it as a video, a simple mp3 would be fine and we don't need it on friday night. Even if it's just on the next monday it would still be awesome! I sent another question to Jeff suggesting that...we'll see...

Yeah it kind of sucks as I never watch any of those things live. The reason most people love WM are the personalities and the compelling content those personalities create. I think if you take the audio, throw it up on whiskeymedia.com as a subscriber only podcast. I think any extra content you can pump out for subscribers make the premium member just that much better.

#47 Posted by rjayb89 (7724 posts) -

Hm, maybe it could work if they split it in four parts and make them available for download one part per week to keep us in the loop.

#48 Posted by 5socks5 (189 posts) -

@Ghost_Bear: It's really not that complicate. Podcasts and videos are a pain in the ass to edit and put up. Not enough people want it to justify Vinny or Dave staying an extra 2 hours editing.

Why not just make the archive available on justin.tv then? Even if it is supposed to be a subscriber only feature...how many subscribers actually catch it live?

#50 Posted by 1p (760 posts) -

@Megasoum: Damn.
