Just wondering what people's avatar policy was. I always try to make my avatar look like myself. I just got a ps3 and was making a Home avatar and after trying to make my digital self look like me i was just thinking, no he still looks to good. I know that on the 360 i gave my avatar a gut, because i, sadly, have a gut. :( Do you guys try to make your avatar a realistic portrayal of yourself, or an idealized version, or does your avatar look completely different?
Do you make your avatar look like you, even if you're kinda ugly?
mine is usually pretty different, not because I dislike my self image, but because it is usually too much work to make an avatar that looks like myself. So I try to make one that looks like me and then give up partway through and just make whatever.
Sure do, always wondered how one defines ugly.
You might think someone is ugly, but that person might think he or she is totally the hottest person alive!
(you know, like those giant fat chicks running around in pants and tops 19 sizes too small)
Well ok, it only looks closely like me.
Still haven't found a game where the character creation was "good" enough to make it look exactly like me.
Yes my avatar looks entirely like me in every aspect, from the two faces, one male, one female, to the pastel colours and general TOIE-ness of me all. Also, my avatar even sounds like me, for I am a Daft Punk's Discovery.
I try to, but last time I checked, PSN's Home avatar editor is very limited in terms of selection. 360's avatar editor is as well, but since 360 Avatars are not trying to be realistic, it's more of a general idea for what someone looks like rather than Home's attempt to be more accurate and realistic.
I look pretty neutral so I don't mind making an avatar like myself. I don't idealise myself in anyway, I know I'm a skinny guy with unkempt hair, I can accept that fact.
Yes. I don't really use PS3 Home anyway, but I tried to make it look like myself. If not a "cooler" version of myself.
I've made mine slightly cuter by adding rosy cheeks and eye shadow, lol. I do have ridiculously long eyelashes for a guy, so it does help to look like me even more.
I make my avatar ugly, even though I'm beautiful.
EDIT: Oh, those avatars. I don't have a 360. Thought you were using avatar as a catch-all term for your in-game representation.
I just make mine to be whatever I feel like at that time, I just go on and tweak stuff and think, oh this needs changing, oh that needs changing till it looks good in my eyes.
If the final image is an effeminate ladyboy it's time to switch my finger to the reset button..unless it's Link, he can be a ladyboy all day and I wouldn't care.
i use my hairstyle and general face structure but i dont include parks of me i don't like and i also make myself in slightly better shape usually.
Yes, my avatar looks like me, given my powers. (I can transform into any video game character I want while I'm wearing the crown, so I can just get a random sprite, slap a crown on it, and I'm done.)
I always try to make at least one in-game character look like me. My 360 avatar looks as close to me as their technology allows, but I always enjoy trying to do it. It's almost a game in and of itself to do it.
I made mine look as less like me as possible, and as stupid as possible... So.. Shit, wait.. It must look like me then.
In Home and 360 Avatar, I tried to make it as close as possible without (a) expending a lot of effort and (b) buying anything. In games, like RPGs, I never make it look like me.
Tried to make my Xbox avatar look like me, but PSN Home was too detailed/ too much work/ no one will ever see it to be bothered.
" Tried to make my Xbox avatar look like me, but PSN Home was too detailed/ too much work/ no one will ever see it to be bothered. "Ha-ha, good point.
In sports games and Xbox Avatars, I try to make it look like me. In any other format, I go for the ugliest, most "i could eat your babies" look possible.
Also, the more unattractive and outthere your avatar is, the less people will think of it as an actual representation of yourself. Even if it really is.
I generally try to make my avatars look approximately like me, but I'm one of the uglies looking sons of bitches you'll ever meet. It's really hard to get anything to look even remotely like me, since I'm obese, have super thick glasses, a four inch scar on the top of my head, and a stoop to my neck from having to squint and lean in to look at everything. My avatars generally wind up looking like "best case scenario" versions of me. Hah!
