The NES because of its simplicity, I appreciated only havinh to worry about D-Pad, A, & B..... my second favorite is probably the 360's.
It's very efficient & ergonomic, I can't wait until the next generation when we can hopefully have a built-in battery so it isn't in the way of my long-ass fingers.
Favorite Controller?
"@Toxin066 said:"Out of curiosity, would anyone be willing to shell out $50 (or whatever the standard controller price is) for a 360 controller v2.0 with some sort of better d-pad design?"Oh God yes"
Yes, I don't know why there isn't already a v 2.0. That D-pad is useless.
" THIS.I actually loved this controller, even though i owned a S controller i never used it. My hands are big so this fit nicely in them the only bad thing about this controller was the oval buttons.
"
Dual Shock 2.
And right now, I wish I could find the guy who made the 360 controller so I could strangle him. The right stick on my original 360 controller that came with my console and is a grand total of 6 months old just broke after I accidentally dropped it yesterday, and every fucking button on the replacement I bought today squeaks VERY LOUDLY. This is some Fisher Price shit, god damn.

I used to play alot of ps2 and i liked the dualshock controllers then i finally got an xbox and found it fits better in your hands and i liked the different spacing of the analog sticks
Sega Saturn controller(version2). There will never be a better controller. Pictured here is a version for playstation. Im still after the Pc version =/
gamecube wavebird, very simple and easy to use, the 360's d-pad killed it for me and soys is a bit to organised and obvious. I admit despite the cubes great feel and what not it isn't a very cool looking controller but does its job.
Assuming you mean controllers from this generation, I'll say the 360 is my favorite. It fits right in my hand, lasts longer than the PS3 and Wii batteries, and is always ready for action whenever I'm ready.
My favorite hasn't been shown/created yet. It'll be like current-gen dual-stick controllers except each hand will hold a separate controller (halved). And each separate half will be able to point/aim at the screen like a wiimote while still retaining its analog stick, trigger, shoulder and face buttons.
We will begin seeing these after Natal comes out and they realize the current controller isn't dynamic enough for motion capable games. Either that or the PS3 motion setup will come out and make MS rethink their 'controller-less' option.
Mouse and keyboard is soooo outdated. The only advantages are numerous keys and precise aiming. This future controller will be the aiming solution (and better design decision will solve the key shortage), but nothing will convince the hardcore fundamentalist PC users they are using old interface tech for gaming. If it fits in your hands and isn't practically glued to a surface, they don't want it.
Favorite current: 360 minus d-pad and battery placement
Favorite retired: Saturn digital (not the first boxy one)
the Dreamcast controller.
Why you might ask?
Cause of the hole in the middle, that if you had a memory card with a screen on it, and put it in the controller, it would display information about the game, (like stats for RPGs and stuff)
Only problem is that the wire would come out of the bottom of the controller, who the hell thought of that!
The 360 controller, but the Playstation standard comes in a close second. I also liked the Dreamcast controller a whole lot, though a lot of people complained about it being too big. I guess my massive hands never really noticed it.
The 360 controller, no contest. The first time I ever held a Gamecube controller, I just kinda caressed it for a few minutes because it was so comfortable. The 360 controller is far superior.
I never liked the PlayStation controller.
Also, does anyone else remember going from the NES controller to the SNES controller? After having the SNES for a few months, I tried to play a game on the NES and it was just impossible. I hate to be that guy, but the NES controller kinda sucked.
After using the 360 controller for 3 years or so, I switched to the PS3 controller when I got my new PS3 Slim (obviously). It took a while to get used to it, but after I did I noticed that the PS3 controllers has more responsive and flexible joysticks (allowing for more precise movement) and a better D-Pad. I now love the DS3. When I play with the 360 Controller now, the Joysticks feel so stiff! (That's what she said)

I feel the same way "I like everything on the 360 controller except for it's dpad.
Strangely, I prefer the Dual Shock 3 to the 360 controller for everything but first-person shooters.
The 360 and DS3 controllers are both two of the best controllers I've ever used. I like the thumbsticks and d-pad of the DS3, but I like the buttons/triggers and orientation of the 360 controller's inputs. Tough call.
Neither because the ultimate (hybrid plus motion) controller has still yet to be made. I have it in my head in glorious detail, but I seem to be the only one after looking at Move.
If the 360 controller had the PS3s D-pad, it would be bliss, maybe even the ps3s regular buttons x, square, triangle, O. :) I do hate the ps3 analogues and shoulderbuttons.

I feel just the opposite, the PS3 sticks arent giving enough "resistance" (?) :)
Since my hands are pretty damn small, my favorite controller would have to be the Gamecube controller followed by the Dualshock 3.
The Gamecube's is just so tiny and perfect, but the Dualshock is way better for the games that are on the platform.
