I went to an amature MMA fight last night to watch a buddy of mine fight. One of the fighters in a bout earlier in the night had unique entrance music. It wasn't the usual death metal or hardcore rap....but the Halo theme song. Then he promptly got his ass beat.
Halo at a MMA fight? Gaming is mainstream, you can't deny it anymore.
Further proof that gaming has gone mainstream

Who are these people denying it, is what I want to know. Everyone by know should know as a fact, it is mainstream and has been for a while, no one needs further proof. Those people who seem to not think so though, obviously have been living under a rock. Really though, they could do better than Halo music.
Personally I'd go for the Metal Gear Solid theme music, but who's denying that gaming is mainstream.
No: gaming is something that someone could probably use the music from and then get away with it.
i thought this was common knowledge....gaming not being mainstream hasn't passed my mind in years. videgame is almost the leading entertainment industry in the biz right now.
From what I have learned from the internet blockage program at my school, Wii and Quake are mainstream. The only two words that instantly block you with the reason explained as, "games".
I kinda disagree with Quake, but somehow it is more synonymous with gaming than terms like: Halo, PS3, Xbox, and COD
"You can also say that video games have always been mainstream, even back to the Pong generation. Games have been mainstream at least since the NES era... if you sell over 50 million of anything, it's mainstream.who doesn't know this. hell, I'd argue that it has always been since the arcades came. in house at the nes.
"
but the halo theme is essentially a fight song (i take it the metal version?)
If any of you ever played final fantasy 8 and know the music from balamb garden. I was walking by the tv once in my house and my dad was watching a movie, and the scene took place in a school and played the song that plays in balamb garden. That blew my fucking mind. This was last year and the movie looked fairly old.
"Halo is pretty mainstream that is why I do not like it"same. every jackass plays it. And I dont really see why. soo why should I?
"The arcade version of Street Fighter 2 made several appearances on Baywatch back in the early 90s. You can't get more mainstream than Baywatch.who doesn't know this. hell, I'd argue that it has always been since the arcades came. in house at the nes.

it is mainstream but its not. like in a city. you're not going to be talking about video games in public and i hate that people will think you're a nerd.
