" Fallout 3. Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring. "This, also bioshock.
Games that you regret purchasing
All of these, with the prices. Fallout 3 - £12, so chronically dull. Far Cry 2 - £3.98, so abysmally dull. The Darkness - £2.98, so tediously dull. F.E.A.R - £2.99, grim and dull. Condemned: Criminal Origins - £5.99, where's the fun again?
The last game I really regret buying was Super Street Fighter IV. Not really a fan of many fighting games, SFIV was a rare exception and I thought i could recapture that fun with SSFIV. Not really sure why, but it just didn't work out for me, and I couldn't return it for full cost since it was open.
ummm killing floor (it was on sale and I had a friend who said it was amazing but im not taking his advice again :/), hydro thunder but that one im still on the fence about, theres more but itll take more time to recall them
All other games I didn't really enjoy have had some redeeming quality,
But this piece of shit is just, Well.... a piece of shit.
I really quite liked that game, though it certainly had problems.
Ok, I got another one. I convinced my mo to get me a Vectrex from my local store as an early birthday present.
Now don't get me wrong, this is a crazy awesome machine...but I don't have any games except the built in Asteroids-like one...
So I probably should have shut my damn mouth
" @InfamousBIG said:Games that are shitty = Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, E.T., Night Trap, Tony Hawk Ride, Rock Revolution (especially for the DS)." @Vinchenzo said:That's okay, I bet Satan doesn't play shitty games. "" Fallout 3. Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring. "You're going to hell. "
Games that you don't like = Fallout 3.
I had the exact same thinking with MUA for the Wii. I know I may be hated but after watching a bit of Deadly Premonition I got the urge to buy and really hated it.
" @Coombs: Will you at least give it that, until the weird Combine-like stuff at the end, it had a really interesting atmosphere? I really quite liked that game, though it certainly had problems. "I only got a little over 2 hours in.
couldn't stand anymore, It's just been sitting on my shelf since.
Like half my Steam list >.>, damn you Steam sales.
A few specific examples are Brothers in Arms series (they're not bad, I will just probably not finish them), Europa Universalis series (again not bad, but too detailed for me), Empire Total War (terrible game), all the old Doom games which I'll never finish, XCOM games, a few city builder games that just aren't quite up to par, Worms: Reloaded, a few more.
Lead and Gold Gangs of the Wild West. It's fun...when people fucking play it and the servers aren't a lagstorm. It would have been nice to have had dedicated servers day one, with some kind of ranking/award system for new weapons, the game gets old at many times...when people play.
Doom isn't really about being finished anymore, its more about basking in its absurdity. Infinite ammo chaingun on nightmare is always fun.
ODST, not bad but never have finished it. I disliked some of the charactors.
fallout 3 took me 2 stabs, but once I really rolling, I never stopped. can't say I played the game well, since in freer-oaming, I kept seeing missions I had missed.
Far cry 2 I din't get past half, but my computer messed me up. it had problems and good points.
But I have bought limbo, shank, xplosion man, quickly bored of those. The last time though I really bought a game ,then regretted it, was that spooky world war two fps that did well in a review several years ago Castle........ I think it was a summer release.
" @Geno: Wait, X-Com is on steam?! I am about to be out of some money... Doom isn't really about being finished anymore, its more about basking in its absurdity. Infinite ammo chaingun on nightmare is always fun. "Yes, and it's been on sale several times, with all of the XCOM games together for 5 dollars. There isn't any other reason I'd own them other than Steam's absurd sales XD.
I regret having gotten Brutal Legend and Avatar: The Game as presents, sure I didn't spend my money on them, but they hurt to look at
" @nintendoeats: I did enjoy the parts I saw, but the gameplay was so awful I had to stop give or take 2-3 hours in "I don't blame you. I haven't finished it myself, but I'll probably get through all of it eventually.
I made a list.
Though it probably needs updating. I've come around on Left 4 Dead 2 a little more.
Some games I still wish I hadn't bought:
The Sims 2 and 3 - I haven't played much of either despite my best efforts. They're just insane time sinks. I could spend an entire day playing and not finish building and decorating a single lot, let alone get any actual gameplay done. Besides that, with the way EA charges for content, the base game should totally be a free to play affair. It's kind of sick the way you buy a game and on day one they have a slew of extra content to buy.
Motocross Madness 2 - Never had the PC to play it back in the day. I recently tried installing and playing it. Found out that it's totally incompatible with modern graphics cards. Running in software mode caused screen artifacts and a hard lockup; evidence of overheating, except not even the most graphically intense games and long sessions cause that on my computer with the cooling I have. I haven't tried playing it since.
Resident Evil 4 - Just because I can't play horror type games by myself, and I totally can't aim in either the Gamecube or Wii versions of the game. I've been getting the itch to try again, but I really don't want to have to play through to the point I've gotten to twice now before I dropped the game.
And practically every game I bought as a kid with my parents money. Games are expensive, yo, and there were a number of them I never even played. There were more important things that money could have gone towards.
split/second.... terrible terrible repetitive game :(
Stopped playing after having to play the same 2 maps over and over again...
Bioshock - was really looking forward to it, but just didn't do anything for me
Sega Rally
GTA IV : PC - stupid stupid stupid
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
This generation I would probably have to go with Prototype. The reviews for it were decent enough and one of my friends was really talking it up so I gave it a shot.
I wasn't a huge fan of the combat, it was fun flying around for a while but enemies were just a pain to fight. I resorted to either running around in circles a bunch to attack when there weren't six guys surrounding me or just spamming the same attacks, such as the Blade ground pound - thing. The vehicle sections were not fun, the controls were okay but the actual goals they gave you to complete with them were usually annoying, especially the few escort missions.
I even tried going back and playing on Hard for the achievement and that was hell. The bosses are pretty cheap, so I just resorted to my old tactic of killing them with bug bites and running around a lot. I made it up to one boss in particular very close to the end (second to last if I'm not mistaken) that I had made about 30 mins of progress on while fighting only to get killed in under 2 seconds by something I didn't react to and had to start all over. I gave up after that.
Well for the Sims franchise, it was really that I liked the whole first game "series" (what with all the numerous expansion packs there were), but each iterative game didn't really bring a whole lot new to the table and grew even more corrupt with the microtransaction model as it became an overt money making machine." @AndrewB: I notice that you have only listed games that you didn't spend much time playing, or even just didn't finish. You don't seem to have outright hated any of them. Do you have any theories about why that is, or are we left to speculate? "
With Resident Evil 4, it's the combination of me sucking at it and it being kind of messed up control-wise. That third person action-ey gameplay made awkward enough for shambling zombies to still be a threat (even more so when they start sprouting killer tentacles that take you out in a couple of swipes). Every time I've stopped playing was out of frustration when I got stuck at a part I just couldn't beat. And not only have I never been able to get past a certain point in the game, but it's an even bigger regret since I own two copies of the game on different platforms because I thought the difference in control schemes would kind of help me out a little.
There are a lot of games I regret buying because I just never got around to playing them, but a lot of that has turned around recently as I've been going back through that catalog and actually finishing older games. Games like The Thing, which is pretty dang horrible, but still has enough charm that I'm not actually regretting having bought it.
" Bioshock - was really looking forward to it, but just didn't do anything for me Sega Rally GTA IV : PC - stupid stupid stupid Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts "I saw bioshock at best buy for $20! and, i`m suprised that grand theft auto IV isn`t down to $20 though, PS3 version is still $30, I got the DLC disc for that price - _-
