Ok, so i'm buying laptop with the following specs:
Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz
2gb of DDR2 RAM (i think it's DDR 2 800)
Intel HD4500 Integrated Graphics
and a simple 160gb Hard Drive
9 cell battery
so, i plan on getting Warcraft 3, what are some other good games that could run ok on that system and still be fun. Multiplayer and Singleplayer, i don't care.
good old games for laptops

My laptop isn't that up to date, but I can give some decent advice: anything from the N64 down (tech wise, don't get any ideas) will work fine.
Speaking of Good Old Games...
You can buy a ton of old and only slightly old PC games there (e.g. Fallout, Fallout 2, Beyond Good & Evil, Broken Sword, etc).
"You should be able to run Rome: Total war."
That and maybe World of Warcraft, if you don't mind the subscription cost.
Heroes of Might and Magic I-IV, Silent Storm, Jagged Alliance 2, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, IL-2, Battlefield 1942, Command and Conquer Generals, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, World of Warcraft, Fallout 1+2, Arcanum, and most any games from GOG.com.
"ManMadeGod said:EVE is my only MMO...."You should be able to run Rome: Total war."That and maybe World of Warcraft, if you don't mind the subscription cost."
I agree with most of these suggestions except...STALKER....
Also, i think my laptop can handle a bit more than N64 emulations
- Counter Strike Source if you're into that, might have to lower the gfx settings, but you're not missing out on much.
- Peggle
- Original Half Life... maybe the Source one
- Defense Grid the Awakening (Really cool tower defense game, GiantBomb should review it)
- Sins of a Solar Empire (4x Space RTS)
- Sam and Max games (possibly)
- World of Goo, yes.
- Demigod?
I'm a huge fan of Titan Quest.
It totally jones off Diablo II, but it's got a different kind of setting, neat magic/abilities, and some pretty hilarious ragdoll death (launching a group of satyrs into the sky, only to have them come down several seconds later over the side of a cliff into the ocean. Nice.)
"Hausdog said:I read somewhere that to interpret another machine's instruction set requires a tenfold boost in speed. Are computers today fast? Yes. Are they faster than Gamecube/PS2? Sure. Ten times as fast? I doubt it."What, you mean like Gamecube and PS2? I doubt it."Maybe it's because i'm biased, but considering integrated graphics these days can run games like Dawn of War, Warcraft II, and the original Half-Life....that too me seems on par with the ps2 and gamecube "
Cyberia guys... epic quest/adventure game, I reckon u could run it on Pentium 3 laptop lol. the game is amazing though. There's also online flash game series called Papas Games at http://papasgames.us/ ... Highly recommend if you enjoy cooking games.
Keep in mind that the Intel GMA isn't just a low performance integrated chipset, but a particularly shitty one at that with it's very limited instruction set. Games using OpenGL, like many older Source engine and idtech games, Quake II etc. probably wouldn't work right.
World of WarCraft would work, but I wouldn't be 100% sure about WarCraft III, I'd suggest looking in the battle.net forums to see if people report issues with Intel chipsets there.
Plenty of games that would work on fifteen year old ATI and Nvidia GPU's don't work on Intel GMA because it doesn't support a lot of OpenGL instructions that both old and new games use.
When browsing the Steam and GOG stores I strongly suggest looking in the forums if people report crashes on launch, that usually happens to people with Intel GMA.
Newer indie titles usually mention if they support Intel chipsets in the system requirements.
Civ 5, or get old.
@dongamereve: congrats, I believe you now hold the new thread necro record, almost 6 years old...
And apparently you created a account just to do this so it makes it extra special.
And on top of that is a thread of someone asking for immediate advice which also makes your post extra worthless, so again, congrats.
