I just turned 17 and started to think back to when i was little and how much I loved pokemon. Now i keep making random pokemon references and the such. It was the thing that got into rpgs and anime and tcgs.
I was exactly 17 when the first Pokemon came out in the US. I got pretty into Pokemon Blue, but otherwise not so much. Pokemon Snap was a cool rental, and I watched some of the TV show for the heck of it.
Greatly, I am like a walking Pokemon wiki for a lot of the stuff. It is why I try to fill in and add missing info on giantbomb. I've spent way to many summers playing the games and even one summer competitive battling with people.
I loved Pokemon when i was a kid, i can still tell you anything you need to know about Pokemon and i'm 21. However, i only consider anything up to #151 to be Pokemon anything after Mew is bullshit.
I got way ahead in my math, because of Pokemon (I was 7 at the time). I can honestly say that I had such an incredibly easy time in grade school math, because I used it so much while playing the card game.
I enjoyed Pokemon Red back in the day, but I haven't played any Pokemon games since then. I have thought about gettting back into it with Platinum, though. A friend of mine played the absolutely shit out of Diamond and loved it.
I'll also admit to enjoying the TV show when I watched it while I was in high school. Team Rocket always gets a good chuckle out of me.

G-Force (not the hamsters) was my obsession as a kid. Pokemon really had no effect on me other than that catchy rap song... The first two seasons of the show were kind of fun, but I lost interest after that and moved onto other distractions.
In Blue Version, I have a complete pokedex 151/151 (friend traded me a mew). I got them all. This has completed my life. I'm just drifting now, awaiting death.
I wasn't that affected by pokemon beside spending 100 hours of my life into the games and watching the T.V. show's first couple of seasons but my brother spent loved pokemon A lot 6 to 7 years ago and he still does.
It has generally made me more cynical as a person and made me question my own sanity, as if I was the last sane person on the planet I watched what is only comparable to brain vomit enter the minds of my cousins. My brother kind of grew out of it.
I was in the middle of the Pokemon "craze". I was 8 years old when the show was cool, everyone was into it. At recess all we did was play the game against one another and traded cards. So in short, it played a large role in my early days. Then I got into DBZ.
That is something that I never thought I would see. They lasted all of 2 months or so.
They only way Pokemon ever affected my life was play Snap, seeing the first movie in the theaters and going to Burger King to collect 1 or 2 of the figures.
On my way out of the theater after seeing Pokemon: The First Movie, I got interviewed by a local news station. Other than that, nothing really. The last Pokemon game I bought was Pokemon Yellow.
I played the very 1st Pokemon game back when it came out. I remember hearing a bunch of people saying how amazing and awesome it is. like most youngsters, I enjoy the Cartoon/anime show as well. was really hyped for it. Got a job as a paperboy and saved up money for a GameBoy (brick) and got the game 2nd hand.
Back then I never look up gaming news or look up games, so I never really seen the game in action before hand.
I bought the Gameboy, pop in the game. Was pretty much like; why the heck are everyone saying this is awesome, the fights are boring cuz it's just 2 pictures moving back and forth. I was playing alot of arcade fighting games back then and I though Pokemon's fight would be something like that. I beat the game and it was a Mehh.
Everytime a pokemon games come out, there were usually a lot of commercials on TV and everytime I look at someone playing it. I say This is the same thing, why the hell are people liking it so much. This continue on to this very day.
i got into more anime after watching pokemon. i use to watch the cartoon show, it was great. i learned not to get into to many fads. i barely had any pokemon cards when i was younger. my parents didn't really want to buy me them either. i learned not to get in any fads. they will go away.
i remember in middle school all the kids had the pokemon cards and they were supposed to be the coolest thing. I thought they were stupid and this was 10 years ago. Then I played one of the gameboy color pokemon games that a friend had sold to me with his gameboy advance. Pretty decent game.
