Civ V.
I'm a weirdo who would rather play Civ IV. Also Civ V has terrible performance late game.
What games do you regret buying in 2011?
I think The Witcher 2, not because it's a bad game. I just regret buying it because I decided to pull a Vinny and actually get through the first game first. Turns out, that took too long so now I have a 49€ copy of The Witcher 2 I haven't even installed.
Biggest disappointment this year goes to Dragon Age 2, but I feel I got my money's worth back at least, so I am not really regretting the decision to buy it. I think I would have liked it more had I not played the first one first. Still though, that reuse of environments was almost criminal.
Deus Ex 3. I paid full-price for a ~30 hour game I only actually spent 3 hours in and didn't particularly enjoy.
Contrarily, I'd have paid at least double what I forked out for The Binding of Isaac, and that is 30 minutes long.
Deus Ex and Mass Effect 2 (I should know better, I know that I don't like WRPGs, though I got ME2 pretty late). Then again, I actually like Skyrim so who can say.
@GunnBjorn: Isn't it 'what games do you regret buying in 2011' not 'what 2011 releases do you regret buying'? He could have bought XIII in 2011
Nothing really, though going through my Steam purchases for this year, there are a lot of <$15 games that I'll probably never play.
I was pretty disappointed with L.A. Noire but I wouldn't say I regret purchasing it. I've done a pretty good job of avoiding terrible games this year.

Bastion.
You are a terrorist who hates freedom.
Socom 4
I was a huge fan of both Socom 1 and 2, but Zipper has wrecked the franchise with the latest version.
Brink is really the only one, though I got a decent review out of it. I'm even happy I played Duke, as it's been a long time since I've played a legitimately bad game.
Dark Souls
Gears of War 3
Both games I knew going in that they probably weren't going to be for me, but wanted to try something new and it seemed as though there were enough people finding something to like in them. Oh well, like I said, just not for me.
I had a really bad habit of buying games this year and not playing them until I could have gotten them on a deal for much cheaper. The only games that I bought that I was truly unhappy with were Dragon Age 2 and EDF: Insect Armageddon. I should have known I would not like Dragon Age 2. Hell, I didn't like the first one too much. But, I was still riding high on the Mass Effect 2 train and I believed that Bioware could do no wrong. The game isn't awful. It is just not for me. In the battle between shotguns and loin cloths, I know where I side.
Oh yeah. EDF: IA was a real bummer. Trying to serious up the story and gameplay was a poor choice. Should have let the crazy Asian people that made the other games keep on being as weird as possible. Damn Canadians.
Probably Dead Island. After taking a step back and looking at it after several hours of play it turns out that the game was pretty repetitive and dull.
Rage. Like...I don't know what I was thinking; my excitement for that game was immense and after 3-4 hours I was completely bored with it and it's been a struggle to get myself to finish it.
Black Ops. I went through single player and had some fun, but when I got to the real meat of the game, the multiplayer, I realized that I was about 4 years too late to this party. If you're good at MW2 then you're good at CODBLOPS and MW3. Those skills transfer. I hadn't played any of the previous games and it became very apparent that I would have to spend countless hours trying to catch up to even the average player, something I have no interest in.
I was about to buy the new Deus Ex but I borrowed it from a friend and I realised how boring it is. I loved the original but the new one was just bad.
dead space 2,did not enjoy it. so looking forward to the game aswell just couldint get into it.shame
loved the first one.
Nothing(thanks to Gamefly mainly). I don't really buy something without trying it in first. Plus, I rarely buy anything anymore. The only times I really buy without trying first is if something looks interesting and is super cheap/on sale on Steam or something, and I don't regret those because they are usually so cheap.
