What would it take for you to stop playing games?

I love games and have been playing them all my life. I think I'll be playing games for the rest of my life but thinking about it in depth there are a couple things that would make me stop playing games or severely lessen my enjoyment of playing and collecting video games: 
- If the next generation of consoles doesn't have backwards compatibility, trophy/achievement carry over, or downloadable games transfer I can see myself becoming less and less interested in gaming as that trend would probably continue.  
- If gaming became ridiculously more expensive than it already is, say $100 for a new game.  
- Faulty hardware from all fronts, I don't want to get a device that will break in 1-2 years.  
 
What about you guys? Any reasons you would leave gaming behind?

i would stop gaming if................. they stop releasing PC versions of multiplatform games

I don't think I'll ever quit gaming completely but I don't think I'll ever own multiple consoles again. It makes me feel like I'm missing too many games. :(

Given that I want to be a game designer, we are pretty much talking about the end of the world here. Though some of the BS that OP describes frightens me immensely.

If Steam was to shutdown and take all my games with it..

The only thing that would stop me playing games is a some freak accident like losing my hands to woodchipper, but even then I'd probably just play point & click adventure games using my stumps.

If every time I played a game someone died, then I'd probably play less.

I think there would have to be something that physically prevented me from doing so.

If I lost my eyesight.  
 
Wow, I really hope that never happens. 

If games started to become boring.

For my PS3/PC to gain consciousness and kill everyone I care for.

I will stop playing games when i die, and even then, only if i cant find a way back ^_^

if in the future all games are 3D, motion controlled, shovelware, then i would stop playing them.

If I by some chance grew tired of it I guess. Or if by some magical circumstance I would have to chose between games and family & friends or something like that. In other words, I don't see myself stop playing games any time soon.

A bullet to the head. Or maybe if I'm just too busy to play. Actually I haven't actually sat down and played a game for more than 30 minutes in like almost two weeks.

I'll only stop playing when I die, or when the world ends, which will be 2 years from now, no props, plenty of time to finish my stack.

Not if, but when I no longer have the time, maybe even sooner if something/someone more interesting comes along. Games are already way less interesting to me than they used to be. No idea why.

If the price is £100 per game and I enjoy the game then what is wrong with paying the fee?

I don't think anything the gaming industry did would stop me from playing games. It would most likely be something that I did that would stop me. Like I got a job, had a family, and didnt have time to play video games. 

Only if I lost my hands and/or eyeballs. Oh, or if something more important comes up. 

If they all started having Kinect-style controls, I'd be out.

There's too many games out there that I could be playing. I'll probably end up at around 10k games or something

i might end up stopping if i ever have a family, but i doubt that will stop me lol

i cant see myself not playing games, unless physically i was not able, i.e. health issues.

Whichever the monetary price I would still play games. If they were really expensive, then older ones.  
 
Apart from that, only if they invented a better distraction and experience at a lower price.
