Avatar Etiquette?

I'm just wondering, are you a user who changes their avatar frequently or are you the kind that sticks with one and carries it with you until the end of time?

Yup, I've had my custom made Shaun Of The Dead avatar since I created my account the day the site launched.

I feel like I SHOULD have an avatar I feel attached to, but I never do.  I would like something informative, cute, scary, sexy, cool, and funny.

On other sites I usually keep the same avatar for a while, but I find I've been switching my Giantbomb one a little more frequently.

lol good switch to pheonix dude, i thinks its all a hoax for a borat style film or a similar film that will deconstruct the celebrity mythos (maybe showing the psychology behind it and the millions who live for it, reading tabloids everyday and watching access hollywood etc.)

I'll probably keep this one until the internet doesnt exist anymore, in which case neither would GiantBomb. It just fits my username so well.

I change mine as often as my underpants. Once or twice a year.

I've always had this one, but I've experimented withvariations.

I think my first avatar was an image of the Dalai Lama, but I quickly changed to the toon llama and very slight variations of it.  I could change it, but Jakob187 would disown me.

If I were you, stick to the beard theme... because beards are cool.

I change it often. Pretty much whenever I get bored of looking at the one I'm using.

Mine changes from time to time, but not as much as I change my underwear...  I mean, that's like 3 months!  Ridiculous.

I think I've found a keeper with this one though.  Narwhals are just so damn awesome.

I've used the same avatar since I joined the site on launch day, and I've rarely, if ever, changed it. But, the reason for my lack of variety boils down more to laziness than "avatar etiquette." I have to say, though, that I do appreciate it when people consistently use the same avatar, because, especially on this site, it makes it easier for me to find the posts that I want to read.

I like to keep mine. Firstly, it's Josh Homme, singer of Queens Of The Stone Age which is my favorite band. Secondly, I find it easier to identify people when their avatars stay the same.

The chances of me changing mine are remarkably low. I rarely alter my avatars.

I've had this avatar on GB since launch, and for 2 years on other sites, and I'm not planning on changing it anytime soon. I find that I recognize other people by their avatar, so I assume people recognize me by mine, so I don't change it.

Now that I'm having deep thoughts about avatars, I can honestly say that I haven't had that many in my many years of internet use. I due tend to have a mental default image whenever I sign up for a new site. Usually something containing either John Cleese or Jean Claude Van Damme-
