I think Red Eye is great. It's a "news" show in the same sense that The Daily Show is a "news" show. Not all of their bits are funny, but they don't try to be politically correct and obviously don't mind insulting people. That's what I like about the show. It's not so uptight like the rest of Fox.

It might be an attempt at satire but these fellows actually believe what they are saying 100%. This show is nothing like the Daily Show, which is a satire about news media. This is more like a politically focused Howard Stern show...a silly boys club with degenerates and hypocrites.
Up here in Canada, we've only just legalized VCR's. And just a few weeks ago, we finally got our first 100 miles of paved road. Staplers are still illegal though, which is sad. I'm tired of holding my paper together with a hockey puck.
What's even better is that we send our old retired citizens out on ice flows rather than send them to retirement homes. Much easier this way.
It was slightly funny to me, and obviously not serious. They're just looking for topics to bag on, and shouldn't really have to apologize. It was supposed to be all in good fun, and I think many people would have realized that if the people on the show were a little funnier, except that one guy who did the last word and is always on VH1, he's hilarious.

Okay, some of you are saying "Well it's red eye, it's meant to be satire like the Daily Show." Well the problem with saying that is representation. If there is something I learned from media studies, it is that each show represents the thoughts and beliefs of the channel. There is a reason why some tv shows tell us before it starts "This program represents the thoughts and beliefs of *** and in no way represent the beliefs of *** and our affiliates". I get what you are saying, but the purpose of Red Eye is to say the worst imaginable on Fox without getting as much as a scratch. They represent Fox completely, even if it is meant to be "satire".
Does South Park represent libertarians? No, it represents Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Does the Daily Show and Colbert represent liberals? Not necessarily, it represents Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Does Red Eye represent Fox News? Absolutely, which is why we see the same beliefs on this satire in connection with any regular commentary show on the channel. Does Lou "Come on, he's clearly racist" Dobbs represent CNN? Of course he does.

Ok, I'm gonna risk my sanity and throw in my two cents on the matter - because it looks oh so fun to join in.
I watched the clip and felt kind of offended (I'm not even Canadian), till I realized they were trying to be funny (trying oh so hard). Still, I get the whole "politically incorrectness = funny", but geez, I don't think people should get so worked up over this. In my opinion, Redeye is a crappy show on a "news" channel that borders on the absurd so I don't watch it. Hell, we get Fox News here in New Zealand and no-one I know takes that channel seriously. In fact its the butt of most jokes. Still I can see some people taking that stuff seriously (I think its the wee spinny fox logo in the corner) which worries me a bit... but not too much.
Do I think this form of comedy is acceptable? Hmm, well... I think it is. I mean, I think shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report do this sort of thing as well right? They just seem to do it much better and funnier to the point where it isn't offensive anymore but rather hilariously true. So, I wouldn't say "Go f**k yourself to Fox News" I'd say something more along the lines of "keep practicing... because I don't get it."
