If a bank made a mistake in your favor, would you tell them?
My mom is a bookkeeper and she's told me you should never EVER take advantage of an accounting error. The reason is that banks will take the money back, REGARDLESS of what you have used it for, even if it's their fault. So unless you want to screw yourself over go ahead and go crazy, but you'll regret it in the long run.
Yes.
Lets say for example you found yourself €2000 richer one day and decided to empty your account and go on a shopping spree with your new found wealth. The bank then realises their mistake, takes the €2000 back from your account, leaving you with a negative balance. You would now be obliged to pay back the money you spent and possibly pay interest and charges on the now unauthorised overdraft on the account (though the bank would more than likely waive the charges as it was partly their fault).
I'd wait a few months and keep it in my bank account, and if nothing happened for a while I'd spend it : )
Isn't there a rule where if they make an error and don't call on it in 12 months or something, they can't do anything about it?
I wouldn't tell them, not because it is my nature; because bank CEOs are greedy fucks. If a teacher marked a question that I got wrong, as right, I would alert the teacher. I would do this because I think it is fair, I didn't earn that grade and I have conscience that is very sensitive to guilt. On the otherhand, all banks do is take advantage of customers' trust and money. I'd keep the dolla bills.
"Really? My teachers always told me to keep quiet if they made a mistake in your favor. I always appreciated them for that *shrugs*I wouldn't tell them, not because it is my nature; because bank CEOs are greedy fucks. Funny you should mention this. The bank gave my mother an extra dollar once. She didn't notice it until later and didn't think much of it until the bank called her and demanded that she give the dollar back. They even offered to show her a video of when the mistake was made, apparently. All that over a dollar; bureaucracy at it's finest.
"Yes, because eventually they will catch the error and correct it."this, a buddy of mine tried to get away with taking more money than he should have gotten and the bank gave him a call the next day and told him to give the money back or they would freeze his account and take him to court over it if he didnt give them the money back. I think it was over 20 bucks or something, he also had a good thousand dollars in his account at the time so he was kind of pissed.
Of course I would. Anything else is flat out stealing. But given how many of these douchebags here steal games all the time I'm not surprised they would vote no. The truth is I've caught the bank fucking up multiple times and trying to take my money via some incompetence and fuck ups. This one dude all dressed up in a tie and such fucked up a transaction, I had to go above him to get it solved.. they lost like $10,000 of mine because this dickhead did not properly file the transaction. Luckily it was such an obvious fuck up they bank was able to clear it up right away.

"Yes, because eventually they will catch the error and correct it."Yep, and then if you can't repay the difference, things get sticky. Here's something from a government credit site on the subject. http://edu.cqdx.gov.cn/business/83036.html
Probably because they released an actual disc version of it not too long ago."
Yes I would because its only a matter of time before they find out and since they are the bank; they will get that money back somehow.
