Yes, this thread again. People are starting to derail another thread by discussing it so I thought I'd make this thread.
Except beer but I just added that for humor.
Around here people either call it Coke or Soda... That's it. If you say "pop" in south Alabama you'll have people looking at you like you're an idiot.
What do you call your carbonated beverages?
Who the hell calls every drink a coke? That's just weird. It's soda. Or you can call it a soft drink. But pop sounds fucking stupid, and coke is a brand name.

"I worked as a waiter in Auburn last semester. It was pretty common to have people ask "what kind of coke do you have?". I used to do it too. This is the deep south though. And I think we're the only area that does it.

I just say the brand name flavour of what I want, but when speaking in general terms pop is the only correct answer. People that say soda sound mentally challenged to me.

It's at least somewhat common in europe. Some countries refer to all soda as coke." Who the hell calls every drink a coke? That's just weird. It's soda. Or you can call it a soft drink. But pop sounds fucking stupid, and coke is a brand name. "

Only civilized people call it soda.
Although I've been to areas where everything is Coke and it's fucking mind bending.
" I call them "Fizzle slurps" "I thought everyone did. You mean to imply that they don't?
I'm scared
You can go ahead and say the joke. I've heard plenty of them. I know it's all in good fun." @Commando: I don't know what yankees you've been talking to. Here in the CT we call it soda. I was also going to make a joke about the second part, but that would've been in poor taste, and I would've shamed myself by saying it.
I had a great chili cheese dog in Alabama once.
"
I have 3rd cousins who live in Massachusetts, and they called it pop.
" Anytime someone says pop i feel like im talking to a five year old.... "Thank you! It's like when an adult says 'tummy' instead of 'stomach'. Or honest to God, I've had adults say they're gonna 'go potty'. I want to punch them.
To be fair, Massachusetts is a bit...odd. But hey, at least it's not Rhode Island, right?" @example1013 said:
