Steam Summer Sale 2014 Master Thread - Now Dead

Started off pretty well so far! I just picked up Dead Island Riptide, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and DmC: Devil May Cry for $21.

I did notice that the usual email notifications for games going on sale that are on my wish list didn't happen. I didn't get a receipt from the store either, seems like Valve is having some issues right now.

Anyone think Day Z will get a bigger discount or should I buy it now? I was hoping for 25% off.

@pantzing_nome: I don't know, but generally, things that are included in daily deals are at their maximum discount for the sale.

Damn, it's a seller's market on items. I think this team competition thing is driving up prices. It's fascinating.

Got into purple team but I don't have much money to spend on this sale sadly :(. I'm eyeing Borderlands 2 GOTY though so if I can at least pick that up I'll be happy.

Farcry 3 was on my wishlist and goes in the pocket for €4.99. Decent start.

I'm a Witcher now I guess, $6 for Witcher 1 and 2: electric boogaloo.

Nothing intresting today, so I used one of the ten € I had set aside for today to buy cards for instead. No regrets.

When it came out, all I heard was talk about the story and the villain that didn't really put me off the game, and a bunch of weird voodoo shit or whatever. I didn't hear one word about any of the gameplay. WHY were you only talking about that!? The actually GAME part is freaking awesome and what you should have been talking about, then it might not have taken me the two years or so to play it!

There's nothing right now that I just must have, but it'll come, I'm sure of it.

@bakumatsu: if it's a flash sale, daily sale, or community choice sale, it is the deepest discount you will get for it for the entire steam sale. If you want the game, go buy it now.

Bought XCOM, Far Cry 3, Terraria, La-Mulana, Max Payne 1 & 2 and Super House of Dead Ninjas. $40 seemed alright for all that.

Not worth anyones time. What a horrible mess of a game.

Holding back for now the only thing I've bought so far is Year Walk at 3 bucks. Remember Patrick raving about the ios version of the game so I had to give it a try.

Edit: Caved and bought a bunch of stuff that was already at the lowest price it had ever been. Went for a bunch of cheap indie stuff to get up to Level 8 so I could start earning Summer Cards to flip on the marketplace from participating in community votes.

My husband just bought me the Dead Island bundle, so that's pretty awesome. I haven't see anything yet that I don't already have, at the moment, but I am eagerly awaiting the hour change for new deals.

Remember, if you're going to get Witcher 3 on PC, owning 1 and 2 will give you up to $11 off preorders on GOG. Witcher 2 counts as an $8 discount, so if you're going for 3, you actually save more than you spend if you buy the second game.

@jadegl: Dead Island is a ton of fun. I just recently played it after picking it up during last summer's sale. Got Riptide today!

There are a few interesting mods for Dead Island and they really do a lot to make the game better. I like the Director's Cut mod, and the George Romero Zombies mod.

@mb: cool I will have to check them out. I always meant to play the games, I just had so many other games to play! I'm only just getting through Deus Ex: HR. My pile of shame is immense at the moment. This sale is just going to pile onto it.

Played an hour of so of Xcom: The Bureau and so far im really digging it. It has some jank but i feel like its a great deal at 4 bucks and so far it feels like its worth my time, which is surprising. Its also making me want to buy Enemy Within.
