lol comprehensive. You know what surprises me - is that Resistance 2 is actually holding it's own in review stakes at the moment. And I say that NOT to troll - I say that out of sheer surprise. I thought Resistance 2 would get it's ass kicked ratings-wise by GoW2.

Excellent news that single-platform owners have at least one truely outstanding shooter on their console this Christmas, be it Gears or Resistance.

Gears Of War 2 sounds pretty much like the perfect sequel from what I've read so far."

not a surprise, hopefully I can nab a copy from gamefly on release date.

Jeff said it didn't really change from the the original but that was a good thing. I would've expected Resistance 2 to get a tad better reviews than Gears 2 seeing as it's such a massive overhaul from the original."

The scores are what I thought it would get. I'm heartily impressed and can't wait to pick it up Thursday night/Friday morning. :-)

Compared to the other mostly subpar shooters on the PS3, it is the Gears equivalent--even though it likely won't be nearly as good overall judging from the Resistance beta (we'll see when I've played through them both in full), it certainly stands out as marvelous on the PS3... whereas on the 360 it would be just another shooter.

1ups review is there now too, gave it an A. I think everything shown here is all anyone needs to see....gamespots review isn't gonna be worth looking at.

Not surprising at all, I would never expect low or average scores for Gears.

Bloody nora just watched the GameTrailers review. The graphics are phenomonal. Some of the backdrops are amazing and you can certainly tell the injection of colour.

Having said that - the character design and voice acting is just horrendous. It's a good job no one plays Gears for that reason right?

I mean a score of 9 when you normalize it to a 5 star system is really a 5 star game.

Did we really need reviews to tell us Gears 2 was going to be good? Jeff did a great review though, so did 1up. They both got me excited for Thursday night.
