I would be interested IF AND ONLY IF a bunch of the levels go through some significant redesigns at the same time. An art/resolution/effects upgrade would be grossly insufficient.

Rumor: 343 Industries Remaking Halo: CE On The Reach Engine
I know that I am not the only person who thought that the Halo: CE level design was absolute garbage. I don't see why you would remake it, every single element has been improved in the successive games.
The end of Reach just gave me an extreme urge to go into Halo 1, I wouldn't mind playing a remake. Also, fuck off haters. I thought GT 5 was the current go to game to shit on.
I don't really want this. I've played through the original Halo enough times and I really enjoy it but the copy and paste nature of the in-door areas of the original Halo kind of get to you after a while. Playing the original Multiplayer online could be cool though, I mean then the 360 would be cool like the PC version right, right?
" So, Gears of War in 2011, and a Halo-remake? Thank god I bought a PS3 last week. "This.
The Reach engine is trash, and I'd imagine the only people who are hoping they go backwards like this probably haven't been too impressed with the recent games anyway. Who exactly is this for?
Considering how much I FUCKING LOVE CE, I'm all for this.
The Silent Cartographer in glorious HD? Yes, please.
If they can pack a remake of GT4, facebook, Mariocart 64, and -insert nascar game of the past here- onto a disk and sell that like a modern, innovative game, then I think MS could get away with their Bungie ' developer remake CE. Plenty of other (more repetitive) games like God of War have been re-released, and I think actually remaking the game would ultimately end in a better product. Plus, the original Halo is amazing. Seriously. People can talk shit all they want, but there is a reason Halo is where it is today, and that is because of the original title. Going back and playing it on my PC every once in a while continues to be a joy, years after the release. I would love to see a prettier version of CE with some added extra features (deleted scenes fully fleshed out and put into the game? In game dev commentary about the original game? Functional Live multi-player?), even if it was a full priced retail game (although I think if they went for a price of $40 for a dis release, the game would do very very well).

Using Reach tech=multiplayer is already there, they just use different weapons, some altered gameplay mechanics, and different maps. Almost all things which have been done for previous Halo DLC.
Honestly, I would love this, especially if they added an online mode. I spent countless hours playing Halo CE on the PC.

I don't think this is a good idea. I wouldn't think anyone except Halo fanatics would really be in the market for a remake. I liked the first Halo, but I certainly wouldn't buy and play it again.
Not really interested... The graphics of Halo: CE is a central part of its charm, and I still find myself playing it from time to time, even though it's been like 8 years since it was released. Playing through the same game with slightly better graphics does not warrant a purchase in my book.
After Halo 3, they simply decided to milk the franchise dry. After the sub-par Halo Wars and the absoluty horrible ODST I'm probably never buying another Halo title again(that is, unless it contains a "4").
Part of me says fucking awesome. Another part says get fucking going with the "new" Halo.
I don't think microsoft would hang it's hat on a Halo C.E. remake as the next Halo game. Is it something small enough that could be done by the end of 2011... sort of like an ODST 2? I don't want to have to wait until 2013 or 2014 to play the next "new" Halo.
Now that I think about it, this could literally become ODST 2. They put the Halo C.E. campaign in a box, and add a Reach multiplayer disc with map packs on it.
While I wasn't frapping mad for it, I wouldn't mind a Halo:CE remake at all. As long as they put in work feature wise and it's no where near retail price I would pick it up. If it's just the same game with updated graphics though then I'd probably pass, the original isn't that old where I'm dieing to see it with a fresh coat of paint. I loved the game when I played it years ago so all this talk could mean shit when I see it in the future.
I thought Halo:Reach's SP was really...plain. You know that Reach is going to fall but you never really FEEL it on a grand scale. It's only like "Burning city here" and "Huge ship here" but its just setpieces.
And wave after constant fucking wave of enemy is not fun. Ever.
As mentioned, this would make the previous comments coming from MS hypocritical. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time someone had straight-up lied about makin' games.
Then again, that first time was David Jaffe...
" is it just me or is it a terrible idea to use the reach engine as it sucks "This.
If they do a full remake of the original Halo instead of just an HD update, I know my roommate-to-be will buy it day one, so I'm lucky and won't have to purchase this.
Personally, I find myself kind of done with Halo anyways, so they're gonna have to do something BIG to get me interested again.
