    Overview

Julia Chang is the adopted daughter of Michelle Chang, who taught her how to fight, which is why their moves are the same. Julia first appeared in Tekken 3. Since then, Julia has appeared in Tekken Tag Tournament, Tekken 4, Tekken 5, and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Tekken 6 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion. She replaced Michelle as a player character following the time skip that takes place between Tekken 2 and 3. Julia hopes to one day reforest Arizona, which is where both Michelle and Julia live.

Julia starts off searching for her foster mother, Michelle Chang, by visiting her old tribal lands and studying archaeology. When she was only an infant, Julia was abandoned in the desert ruins of an ancient Native American reservation. Michelle discovered Julia and raised her as her own. As she grew, Julia trained with Michelle so that they would be more capable to protect their homeland. When gossip about random martial artists started spreading, it soon reached Julia's homeland. The people of her tribe suspected it had to do with Michelle's sacred necklace. According to an old legend, the Ogre was back.

    Tekken 4

Julia was an Archelogy student before the events of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 when one day it was discovered that her native homeland is in danger of becoming an encroaching desert. Upon knowing this she began doing research and joined an advanced genetic research group in order to save her homeland. The research group is being supported by G-Corporation though it was raided by the Mishima Zaibatsu group. All research data they have worked for were stolen by the Mishima Zaibatsu. Julia, in desperation of saving her homeland, searched the web for any information regarding the Mishima Zaibatsu. She found out that they were holding the fourth King of Iron Fist Tournament and joined.

Ending: Julia is working on one of the Zaibatsu computers on her 'Genocell' program when she comes across the "Devil-Human Integration Project". Doctor Abel then comes out of the shadows and begins to explain that her 'Genocell' program was the key to completing the "Devil-Human" project, and then asks her to join them. Julia, disgusted at this, prepares to delete the entire program. Abel points a gun at her, telling her that she will be destroying the future of mankind. Julia states that the project is the destruction of mankind, since such horrible things should not exist. Julia proceeds to deleting the project, even though it means the discontinuation of the forest's rejuvenation. Abel fires a shot; luckily, Julia flips away in time and the shot misses completely. The scene shifts to a sun-scorched forest area. Julia is standing overhead on a hill. She claims: One day... I will reforest this land. I swear it. A bird soars through the sky (similar to Michelle Chang's Tekken 2 ending) and the scene ends.

    Tekken 5

Julia still continues her research on forest rejuvenation after she was not able to retrieve the research data after the King of Iron Fist Tournament 4. Though her research work was not successful she received a letter which invites her to join the fifth King of Iron Fist Tournament. Julia joins in order to fulfill her hopes on forest rejuvenation,

Ending: Julia is walking through a lush, green forest, enjoying all that nature has to offer. It turns out that this is just a dream when Julia wakes up by her computer. After a little stretch, Julia goes into a room full of jars. As she walks past one, she notices that a small sprout has grown in it. Filled with a new hope, Julia clutches the jar and imagines herself in the same forest from her dreams.

    Tekken 6

Though Julia was successful in retrieving the forest rejuvenation data, she joins the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 in order to stop a clash of Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. After hearing a prediction from an old woman that a "source of great evil will be released if Jin and Kazuya will confront one another" she was skeptical on joining the tournament at first. Though after hearing the announcement of the sixth King of Iron Fist Tournament, the danger seemed more imminent, which prompts her to join the tournament.

Ending: A bird is shown flying by a mountain. Next, Julia is climbing a mountain in her hiking clothing. Suddenly, when she is grabbing on a ledge, she almost falls. She finally climbs back up the mountain and looks at the horizon of nature and says "Wow. It's beautiful. It's absolutely breath-taking".

    Tekken Tag Tournament 2

For reasons yet unknown, Julia dons a luchador mask and pro wrestling attire for her appearance in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. In the game, she is known by the alias Jaycee.

    Street Fighter X Tekken

Julia appears as one of the playable fighters on the Tekken half of the Street Fighter X Tekken roster. Her arcade mode partner is Bob, whom she hires as assistance in her pursuit of Pandora. In her ending, she and Bob manage to secure the box and Julia takes it to the lab for study, but its properties cause the other scientists to fight amongst themselves. When the box vanishes seemingly of its own accord, she's secretly relieved.

    Trivia

    • In Tekken 3, her ending is the only ending to have actual dialogue in it.
    • Julia is oblivious to the fact that Ganryu is in love with her.
    • To unlock Julia in Tekken 3, the game must be beaten twice.
    • Julia is playable in Tekken 4 after beating the game six times.
    • In Death by Degrees, in the locker room on the Kometa ship, there is a poster of Julia Chang.
