" Because it is popular. Even if you don't like it there is no reason to hate it. "There is when you expected and were really hyped to play another CoD4 and instead get garbage.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Game » consists of 22 releases. Released Nov 10, 2009
The sequel to 2007’s wildly successful first-person-shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues the story of American and British soldiers fighting Russian ultra-nationalist forces.
Why does everyone hate MW2?
" I like it but I got tired of the glitches "I have put alot of time into it on the 360 and I have never once seen anyone noticeably glitching,
So the problem isn't as big as everyone makes it out to be.
I can remember Glitching running rampant in games like Halo2 & Battlefield2 and the bitching was nowhere near as bad as it is for MW2.
Observing my friends, I've come to this conclusion: They hate it because it's not Modern Warfare 1.
I knew people who were obsessed with Call of Duty 4. They would play it nonstop and talk about it nonstop. Naturally, they would be hyped for the sequel. Sequel comes out and of course, there are changes to the original gameplay. Things they did before to win no longer apply. They no longer know the ins and outs of every single map. They have to go through re-learning a new system which they took so long with the first Modern Warfare. So, they migrate to what they originally knew loved without all these changes. Same thing happened with Smash Bros. Brawl for these people. They hated it because it wasn't Melee.
At least, that's from what I observed.

Anyone remember CoD:WaW? I saw people glitching that every few rounds, That's an issue.

Yeah I bet you saw lots of glitching huh?
Also don't mind me, I just think that 3/4 of the people who talk about the rampant glitching have also NEVER seen anyone glitching in it, And just think they can get away with claiming they have.
I 100% agree, allowing someone to run around with marthon, lightweight and a tac knife is the dumbist thing ever and really fucks the game in my opinion, and it could easily be fixed by making it so marthon and lightweight have no effect when you have your seconaday weapon out. The M203 aka noob tube is the most unblancing thing ever put in a video game, take halo for example the one thing they got right with it is that it takes skill and teamwork to win, now put in a underslung grenade launcher on the assualt rifle and battle rifle that does half damage of the rocket laucher but can still kill you in one shot the result is Halo sucks BALLS. And most maps are enablers of "camping" or create really bad choke points aka terminal.
" There is when you expected and were really hyped to play another CoD4 and instead get garbage. "The game not meeting your bloated expectations isn't justification for hating it. Don't like it? Sell it/Don't play it/Burn it and move on with life.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I don't understand how my original statement made you rage like this.
Theres this thing called Viagra that could help you with that....." @Atlas: I bought and have an IQ of 152, so... suck my flaccid wang. "
@Axxol said:
I picked your statement simply because it was the one about glitching near the bottom of the page," I have 6 achievements because I didn't bother playing through the story. I'm not trying to start an argument, I don't understand how my original statement made you rage like this. "
My original comments weren't directly aimed at you, But at everyone who bitches about the glitching.
And if you didn't play through the Singleplayer, It's makes me think you probably didn't put a whloe lot of time into the multiplayer either and when you take into account that after hundreds of matches I have seen ZERO glitching then the odds that you did are pretty slim, It is possible it just seems unlikely. So I'll ask flat out, How many times did you experience people glitching while you were playing?
I know that after all this ranting I am coming off as a fanboy, if that's what you want to think that's fine, Though I'm really not. I'm just trying to get across the single point that the main problem with the game everyone gives (glitching) really is NOT a widespread problem.

I rarely see anyone ever glitch. Care package runners were annoying but at least they were not camping like the rest of them.
I have never seen the 4 perk glitch, 3 weopon, or have I seen anyone use the elevator glitch (getting out of the map).
It has become the norm to call out glitcher everytime they are killed. And it takes all but a few seconds to quit the game IF someone is actually glitching.
final note: game is good, quit when glitched.
- Spawning is horrible and people continuously spawn right beside you.
- Maps are terrible. Maybe the new map pack is better, but there is no way I'm spending $20 on it.
- Multiplayer is full of trash-talking 10-16 year olds and kids spamming over mic. Modern Warfare 2 is the only game where I have my headset muted.
- Knife is overpowered.
- Besides for a few modes, there is no teamwork or strategy.
- Killstreaks are bullshit and a camper's best friend.
I'm enjoying Bad Company 2 a lot more.
1. Severely unbalanced
2. Campers
3. Too many killstreaks
4. Glitches
5. Maps suck
6. Commando perk
7. Bobby Kotick
8. Just because it's Call of Duty does not mean that I have to love it. I'm tired of the constant boners over everything COD and I'm glad it's waning.
9. Battlefield is so much better. Eat your heart out, Infinity Ward.
I lost my taste of Modern Warfare 2--it just doesn't have the same appeal as Bad Company 2. I guess I liked the change and don't want to go back; might go back for seconds with a couple friends, but the bread and butter for a good shooter for me starts with Bad Company. But again, that's just my opinion and I would like to stick with it. Was Modern Warfare 2 good? It was good while it lasted, but it did get old.
1) Choose class.
2) Get rifle.
3) Run.
4) Sit in that spot and camp (did happen a lot)
5) ???
6) Profit! (or kills, whatever works for you)
I played TDM too many times to count so eventually I just lost interest. Got Bad Company 2 and liked the change in pace--slower and much more tactically oriented. I guess I can't hate MW2, but I can say I don't want to play it anymore--call me a fan boy if need be, but you can't really hate either game, they are both different games in some aspects. One has large maps for more strategy to come into play, the other is much smaller and therefore much faster than Bad Company 2. I like strategy, so I tend to favor Bad Company 2 more than MW2.
Because I should not lose simply because of your dumb luck.
I hate that about this game, how you get an AC130 by sheer chance in a care package 3 minutes in and the guy guarantees a strong win because half the time this stuff can't be shot down by anything but a Javelin or Stinger. Or how you can get painkiller because you get owned too hard.
But yeah in general, dumb luck, I shouldn't lose because of your failures.
" I fail to understand this. I have not played the multiplayer in either game, but the single player in MW2 was everything that MW1 was trying to be, only much better. MW1 is more revolutionary, but MW2 is a much better game. "Exactly, you have not played the multiplayer. It is broken. The spawn system is broken. And the matchmaking is broken.
That seems to be a general loaded question. I don't hate MW2, I'm just indifferent about it. I understand kinda why it sold a bunch of copies, the multiplayer is fun, although a bit broken at times. The singleplayer was pretty dumb, although it had moments of fun regardless of it's shallowness. Was it the best game released last year? Of course not. It also doesn't help that a few months later Bad Company 2 sorta gives MW2 a run for it's money from it's multiplayer component, although direct comparisons are a bit hard to create, both are most certainly different entities.
" @nintendoeats said:Also, EVERYONE ALWAYS SHOOT AND KILL ME BEFORE I CAN KILL THEM IT IS SO UNFAIR :'(" I fail to understand this. I have not played the multiplayer in either game, but the single player in MW2 was everything that MW1 was trying to be, only much better. MW1 is more revolutionary, but MW2 is a much better game. I loved CoD4. But MW2 is too arcady with its akimbo weapons, random game breaking care packages and obscenely overpowered assault rifles who are dead accurate at all ranges. And I still have not mentioned the completely retarded lightweight/marathon/commando knifers or the lack of the essential feature on PC called dedicated servers.
But I have Bad Company 2 now, so I have kind of forgotten about MW2.
Ok, to explain why exactly: One: The Single Player had a shit story and IMO poor gameplay as there was just constant action, imagine a film where it was just constant explosions, you might think 'cool!' now, but upon actually watching the film, explosions get boring. It was also too short.
Two: The PC version had IWNET, which was possibly the worst idea pertaining to multiplayer ever. It's buggy, it lags, it allows cheaters, and it flies in the face of PC consumers, the original supporters of COD. And it was all down to IW laziness, nothing else.
And Three: Activision has kind of milked this like a bitch. The price was raised on the PC version, and the DLC maps have been overpriced, particularly since two of them aren't even new.
i like the game but i hate the glitches, and i think kill streaks are dumb and unfair, and they are frequently used in very cheap ways.
the game has a lot of great things about it, but i can easily see how it could drive people up the wall. there are good reasons to hate it.
I don't know. It's a great game that's not totally plagued by issues and is of course totally better than BF:BC2.
" it takes no skill "Because that's not an hilariously stupid argument to make when talking about a video game.
I don't like the fact that no matter where I was on a map, I had to worry about being shot from all directions. The way the spawn system works, finding enemies isn't about out smarting them, but rather running around and hoping you see them before they see you. No one plays as a team no matter what game type you play. The whole thing is a mess. It feels like an arcadey shooter for the ADD generation. I played the hell out of the original CoD4 online and loved it, and on paper the sequel should be better. For whatever reason, it just doesn't click with me any more.
Oh yeah, and Battlefield 2 came out so I had no reason to play MW2.
