For those of you who scream at me to make a games poll instead of my usual political type ones, this one is for you.

What would be your favourite Nintendo console of all time?

Many of you shouldn't even be old enough to have played the NES or Game Boy, but don't let that stop you. It doesn't matter that some are home consoles and others handheld, it is about which one you had the most fun with. It doesn't even really mean which had the best games. Think more about how it looked, what the controller was like, what peripherals were fun …….. just the element of enjoyment.

After much thought, I have chosen the Gamecube. It is the console that really got me into games and JRPG. I loved the controller and especially the Wavebird. Most importantly was the greatest peripheral ever, the Game Boy Player. I still use it. Playing my entire Game Boy collection of 200 games on the big screen is a joy. Still, it was really hard to pass the DS, GBA and Wii.

Over to you and no, I left no options for the haters.

Edit: Sorry for the screw up on C - that is SNES 1990-92: 49 mio units sold.

I've played one of the Smash bros games on the Gamecube about an hour and Wii Sports about 20 minutes.

I had more fun with the Gamecube so I vote for that.

Even though the 3D itself is pretty pointless; I would actually say the 3DS. It has all of the qualities of the DS, and then some. It has compatibility with DS titles and there's already a vast array of quality virtual console titles (especially for ambassadors) + other great downloadable games.

Although, the eShop could definitely use some work; it's certaintly a far cry from being Steam for 3DS. Oh, also, the web browser is also garbage. But besides that, the 3DS is pretty good...

My first Doom was Doom 2 actually, and I played it when I was 7 not 4. I had horrible nightmares everynight, so much that my mom took away my old PC so I can only play the game when my big brother was around.
I remember playing a Mario game, jumping over turtles and into pipes, didn't really grab me as a kid, was more interested in Doom 2, Commander Keen 4 and Prince of Persia, followed by Age of Empires and Max Payne later on.

Sadly, I AM old enough to remember Nintendo and the OG Gameboy. I even had an Atari 2000, but SNES was the big eye opener for me. I remember getting Super Metroid for my 11th or 12th birthday, and playing that thing over and over until I could get 100% of the collectables and still get the best ending where Samus removes her entire suit. I had an unhealthy attachment to that game. Still do.

SNES. The NES might have been more influential, but the competition with Sega really brought out the best in Nintendo.

SNES for all the great RPGs, Super Mario World and Link to the Past, which I still play every year. It was also the last Nintendo home console that had decent third party support so you didn't have to wait months and months between good games.

Its a toss up between SNES and N64. While, I probably played more of the 64, I think the nostalgia and 'pure' gaming the SNES offered gives it the edge. I've often debated whether I should buy a SNES again..

Wow, love the SNES sweep. Makes me wonder why indie games always go for the 8-bit retro instead of 16-bit retro. Outside of it being easier, obviously.

I'll be interested to see if the original Gameboy is still as low as it is after this thing gets more votes. Even knowing how amazing the SNES is, and coming close to saying the Gamecube myself, the Gameboy is just in a league of its own.

I voted for the SNES. I didn't even get one of my own till 2003. I love it. On modern televisions, with exceptions, I think it has the best 2D graphics of all the pre-PS2 systems, and I know how crazy that sounds. I doesn't even have nostalgic value for me.

I got a Genesis in '92, and so did all my friends. A few of my friends got SNESs for Christmas in '95, and I didn't feel left behind until then. Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario RPG blew me away. Everyone who had bragged about having Mortal Kombat before was now bragging about Killer Instinct. I had never played an RPG, and these friends were showing me Chrono Trigger. I was so jealous, and I knew my parents wouldn't get me one, and I knew I had to get Nintendo's next system. And I did. 3 days before street date. And it was awesome at first, but as time progressed.. Well... The games weren't there.

Grew up with a NES and later SNES, and my nostalgia votes on SNES. Still remember how freaking ecstatic me and my older brother was when we got one for christmas the same year it was released. We played F-Zero for days on end! And yes, I'm old! Born 1982.

my personal favorite is the SNES, but I do feel the original Gameboy was the best in terms of impact console Nintendo ever developed.
