Nintendo was founded in Kyoto, Japan in 1889 as a manufacturer of hanafuda playing cards. The company went through several small niche businesses before becoming a video game company.
The best console Nintendo ever made?
For those of you who scream at me to make a games poll instead of my usual political type ones, this one is for you.
What would be your favourite Nintendo console of all time?
Many of you shouldn't even be old enough to have played the NES or Game Boy, but don't let that stop you. It doesn't matter that some are home consoles and others handheld, it is about which one you had the most fun with. It doesn't even really mean which had the best games. Think more about how it looked, what the controller was like, what peripherals were fun …….. just the element of enjoyment.
After much thought, I have chosen the Gamecube. It is the console that really got me into games and JRPG. I loved the controller and especially the Wavebird. Most importantly was the greatest peripheral ever, the Game Boy Player. I still use it. Playing my entire Game Boy collection of 200 games on the big screen is a joy. Still, it was really hard to pass the DS, GBA and Wii.
Over to you and no, I left no options for the haters.
Edit: Sorry for the screw up on C - that is SNES 1990-92: 49 mio units sold.
I've played one of the Smash bros games on the Gamecube about an hour and Wii Sports about 20 minutes.
I had more fun with the Gamecube so I vote for that.
Even though the 3D itself is pretty pointless; I would actually say the 3DS. It has all of the qualities of the DS, and then some. It has compatibility with DS titles and there's already a vast array of quality virtual console titles (especially for ambassadors) + other great downloadable games.
Although, the eShop could definitely use some work; it's certaintly a far cry from being Steam for 3DS. Oh, also, the web browser is also garbage. But besides that, the 3DS is pretty good...

Never in my life touched or played a Nintendo console/game. PC gamer since I was 4!
That's 'cause you is hardcore man. I can just see you playing Doom as a 4 year old ........... so cute (jk).
Ever played Nintendo games on your PC? If so, did they ever tempt you to pick up a cheap console and give it a go?
My first Doom was Doom 2 actually, and I played it when I was 7 not 4. I had horrible nightmares everynight, so much that my mom took away my old PC so I can only play the game when my big brother was around.@AhmadMetallic said:

I remember playing a Mario game, jumping over turtles and into pipes, didn't really grab me as a kid, was more interested in Doom 2, Commander Keen 4 and Prince of Persia, followed by Age of Empires and Max Payne later on.
Sadly, I AM old enough to remember Nintendo and the OG Gameboy. I even had an Atari 2000, but SNES was the big eye opener for me. I remember getting Super Metroid for my 11th or 12th birthday, and playing that thing over and over until I could get 100% of the collectables and still get the best ending where Samus removes her entire suit. I had an unhealthy attachment to that game. Still do.
SNES.

Did you consider killing your mother? It seems the only reasonable option to me.
No idea that Gamecube sales were that low compared to their releases. On topic, I'd say SNES cause Super Metroid.

Not just me? Thank GOD!
Or Satan. Whoever you thank when people online agree with you, even if it is slightly ironic.
I was pretty young when I had my SNES and have more great memories of the N64 and even Gamecube (both of which I didn't personally own)!
Well of course, but I promised myself to only do it using a BFG, and I haven't found one yet, all these years later. But the search must go on.@AhmadMetallic said:

Well, they do say that revenge is a dish best served cold. Now I have an image of you as Stewie from Family Guy in my head!

I've liked every Nintendo home console better than the last. The Wii for me.
The Wii knew it could count on you and thanks you personally for its support. It was afraid it wouldn't get a single vote!
Now we just need a psychic or time travelling overlord to come and tell us how great the Wii-U is.
I voted for the SNES. I didn't even get one of my own till 2003. I love it. On modern televisions, with exceptions, I think it has the best 2D graphics of all the pre-PS2 systems, and I know how crazy that sounds. I doesn't even have nostalgic value for me.
I got a Genesis in '92, and so did all my friends. A few of my friends got SNESs for Christmas in '95, and I didn't feel left behind until then. Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario RPG blew me away. Everyone who had bragged about having Mortal Kombat before was now bragging about Killer Instinct. I had never played an RPG, and these friends were showing me Chrono Trigger. I was so jealous, and I knew my parents wouldn't get me one, and I knew I had to get Nintendo's next system. And I did. 3 days before street date. And it was awesome at first, but as time progressed.. Well... The games weren't there.
we have a problem here: some think about the games they played but read the question as clearly referring to the actual device itself.
thus -> gamecube!
controller feels awesome, it had a GBA player, easy access to import games, cool colors and
it has a fuckin' handle!
