Oh no. EA is going to run PopCap to the ground. Annual releases for Peggle, PvZ, and Bejeweled with preorder bonauses, and they will now have DLC that cost a lot of money. This is terrible news, no worst choice could be made on this decision oh god, everything will now be brown and gray and a first person shooter and be released on origin.

This makes sense after seeing Zygna going public. EA probably wants PopCap to go in hard on the mobile gaming market.

This news should be a clarion call for any aspiring developers to get into gear. You don't need to make highly technical games to make an absolute fortune. PopCap have plied their trade doing polished 2D stuff which a lot of people still love to play.

EA seems to own other really great studios that have plenty of control over their IP's. I'm not to worried at this point, if anything they might be able to make better games due to increased resources.
