Games of 2015

What I played, finished, gave up on, perhaps.

List items

  • Great game with a great balance of modern-playability and retro style. Great music!

  • This game is great, but stressful. Love seeing Ryan's tribute burger in there.

  • Finished this one again. Collecting everything this time. I really love this franchise. I think everyone has that one special game or series that they really love, but many people just don't get. This is mine.

  • I'm pretty sure I finished this? There's stuff around the world, but... yeah, I'll get to it maybe. Not up to the standard of the previous two games.

  • Played a lot of this and then just... stopped. I'll return some day no doubt.

  • Still hopping into this one from time to time to do the side-stuff and collectables. Better this than Origins.

  • A total blast. Pick it up, play for a bit, put it down. Vlambeer are awesome.

  • Finished a second replay that started with me doing all the side content and ended with me mainlining the main storyline. This game wasn't the triumphant farewell to Ezio that he deserved. Would have been better to close the book in Brotherhood.

  • Decided to replay this and enjoyed it a lot more this time around. Spent more time with the systems such as crafting and trading butby the time I was done I was satisfied and ready to play something else. It made me realise just how much time I spend playing stuff to complete it rather than actually enjoy it. You really don't need to find all the feathers. Lazy game design. C'mon Ubi.

  • Replaying again with the Valve-approved fan update. Looks great and gives an awesome game new life - and me more achievements to chase again.

  • The right kind of early-access game. Lots of content. Lots more to come. Great fun.

  • Awesome little game with amazing style. The completionist in me may never finish it.

  • This game nails the Rastan-retro vibe, but hates me completely. I may never get to level two.

  • A wonderful thing. Still fun to jump back in and tinker around to see what else I can find.

  • Reminds me a lot of The Swapper - a game I didn't really care for - but this is more intriguing so far.

  • An abusive-relationship of a game. Beautiful, terrifying and completely stressful. I hate it. You should play it. I love it.

  • A lovely trifle of a thing. Not long, but I stopped playing near the end and haven't felt that inspired to jump back in.

  • Finally gave this one a proper crack and it really is as good as people say. The graphics aren't amazing, but I find that part of the charm, oddly enough. So much content here.

  • Played most of part one, so far. It's... pretty good. Not the revelation that I think we all hoped for. Opinions on the second part don't have my hopes up very high.

  • This game really is what Sim City should have been. I need to get back to it some time.

  • Finished my second play-through. Still fun.

  • Getting stuck in super-realistic looking mud is crazy fun, apparently.

  • Had the weirdest craving for an online, multi-player shooter. Played it for a couple of days and stopped. It's still fun to go back to, but I'm not a play-one-game-online-all-the-time kind of guy.

  • This might be the best puzzle game ever. Always happy to come back for more of this.

  • I love ASCII art so much and this game has some of the best. A surprisingly innovative retro-but original RPG.

  • Scratched the surface, but need to come back and give this one some proper time.

  • Gorgeous game with fantastic atmosphere. Can't say the story really stayed with me after, but it's a fun adventure while you're on it.

  • One of the prettiest games I've ever seen. A fantastic metroidvania that's a lot harder than it looks.

  • I LOVE a good puzzle game. I LOVE a good advanture. I LOVE reading text logs and piecing stories together. I ADORE The Talos Principle.

  • From the glorious bastard behind Spacechem. I immersed myself in this game for a good number of hours and loved every minutes. The Zachtronics style of blending a light story with deep puzzles is a winner.

  • Jumped back into this glorious hell and found happiness amid the suffering.

  • Another one that I tinkered with - 10 hours is tinkering in an RPG - but need to come back for a proper go later. Love it so far.

  • Just... no comment.

  • Oh, this game is SO PRETTY. And super difficult. I have to go back to it when it's done I think. Very polished and playable for an early-access title.

  • I have a real weakness for very large maps filled with icons that I can chew threw. Not a game I can play solidly for days at a time, but one I enjoy coming back to for hours at a time. The PC performance is incredible for such a pretty game as well.

  • What a glorious thing is this game. Danny B's soundtrack is perfect.

  • My first MGS since playing MGS1 a million years ago. Had a great time with it and got super excited for Phantom Pain.

  • Too much to say about this crazy but amazing game. So much to do and even the repetition is compelling somehow. Taking a break now, but interested in seeing the online component when it comes to PC.

  • Nothing to see here...

  • ...nothing at all...

  • More of this creepy thing.

  • Finally gave this a good start and have been enjoying it a lot. Not rushing to play Fallout 4 at this stage.

  • Picked up the Deathinitive edition and started ANOTHER playthrough. Looks great, but there are some performance issues putting me off continuing.

  • Finally got around to finishing up everything except the legendary ships. Still great fun.

  • A good bit of DLC, but not the tear-jerking triumph that some reviews hailed it as.

  • I'm waiting to play Unity some day down the track when I have a monster PC that can maybe run it ok, despite all the talk of it being a bit boring, but MAN is the Rogue underrated. Awesome combination of the best bits of 3 and 4. Having a blast with it.
