The first two scenarios piss me off to no end whenever someone sticks them in a game. The first one especially so. Just throwin that out there.

How hard is it to carry it around with you and listen during down time?

On your commute, waiting in line, taking a shit, lunch break, cooking, cleaning, literally any fucking task that doesn't require that you focus your absolute attention on it can be accompanied by a podcast.

You are asking to be given less of a distraction from all the monotonous shit in your life. Fucking why?

I vote DmC.

Pretty simple reasoning. I enjoyed DS1 and 2, have no interest in playing 3 after everything I've heard about it. I did not enjoy old DMC (or even the genre in general), but I enjoyed the new one.

As far as replay value, my brother played through the game on every difficulty but the easiest and enjoyed every minute. I would have done the same but then got side tracked by some other stuff.

I live in Canada. My brother and I both have a safety license plus he has an owner's. We have a Baikal MP153. It sits under my bed. We have never fired it.

There was one thing in P4 that bugged me through out the game. Every time a scene came up that involved money (eg, Teddie's clothes, make-up steak, etc) the characters would make a stink about overspending or not being able to afford something. Meanwhile, I'm standing there with hundreds of thousands of Yen, and I would love to "make it rain" but never really get an opportunity. To top it off, when I do splurge on something like equipment, no one even says thanks. I just want some goddamn recognition for all the scratch I manage to save up.

Anyway, if P5 somehow integrates money spending into the social part of the game along with a bunch of other stuff mentioned in this thread I'll be a happy camper.

Make a new IP if you're not going to follow the conventions of the franchise.

Don't ruin things people love for fucking brand recognition.

What does that accomplish other than angering the old fans? Destroying the trust they put in you over the previous thr...four games.

Make new things if you want to. Don't steal shit people love and deface them for your own amusement. You're not Sid from Toy Story, stop pretending to be Frankenstein and making these abominations.

Here's a question then.

Do you feel like the existence of this new DMC is in the way of a proper DMC 5? As in do you think they would have eventually made a proper DMC 5 if not for this?

Or, do you concede that there was almost no chance of them continuing the series as it was, and you (maybe not you personally, but all the people ripping on the positivity) are not only stressing yourself out with all the arguing, but also personally attacking a reviewer over some petty sense of disappointment and bitterness?

Yes, they probably would have, because the numbers were there from DMC4's sales to prompt a sequel (unfortunately in the form of this).

Even if they didn't, it WOULD have been better to just let the series end on a relatively high note, as opposed to pulling a Buffalo Bill and parading this skinsuit around distraught family members.

I dunno man. I can almost empathize. I mean I can envision my personal worst case scenario where they make Persona 5 into a fuckin block sliding puzzle game, and then people start giving it 5 stars. Sure i'll be pissed, but if it's a 5 star review from someone I believe usually knows wtf they're talking about, then the game has to have some kind of merit. Yeah I'd be pissed that I didn't get to fuse personas anymore and whatnot, but fuck me if I go around calling people shiteaters for liking the block sliding. I mean I'd probably do it at first, but goddamn.

I understand getting upset about someone shitting on something you like...but what the fuck? Are people upset because a dead franchise got a successful reboot? Fuck. I'm out. Gonna just go buy the game tomorrow and enjoy.

It wasn't fucking dead. "Successful"? It destroyed everything the original series stood for. It went from a spectacle fighter with dozens of enemies on the screen to a bad God of War clone. It went from intelligently comboing together moves with a variety of weapons in order to maximize rank to mashing the attack button until everything was dead. It went from one end of the action genre to the other.

YOU never played the previous games, and yet here you are now, proclaiming a beloved series dead and successfully saved by a mediocre dev with a poor previous track record. Do you have no self awareness? Do you not realize how much of a selfish prick you sound like right now?

Oh boy. Here's what's up.

Are you assuming I never played the other games just because I'm not proclaiming my love for them and tearing my hair out over the review? Because I did play them. I distinctly remember playing 4 and not digging it at all (my brother played the shit out of it, and he's not currently losing his mind), and I'm pretty sure I played another one at some other point in the past, but it obviously didn't leave much of an impression.

Now, I can understand feeling betrayed by a developer changing what made a game great. For example, if From "streamlines" the shit out of Dark Souls 2, I'll be pretty annoyed. But guess what. It's been 5 years since DMC4, with barely a spark of the franchise afterwards until now. You can argue it wasn't dead all you want, but the fact that they figured a reboot would be more successful than a 5 kinda speaks volumes. Not to mention the fact that they gave it to a different developer.

As to the whole selfish prick thing, lemme break this down for you. Someone really likes a game that you don't like. Your reaction is fuck that person til they bleed out. I dunno man, I thought Diablo 3 was 17 steps backwards for the franchise and Blizzard, but I didn't think Brad was a retard for giving it 5 stars. Maybe if he gave it GOTY, but he didn't.

Your "beloved franchise" got 4 entries in it. I don't see anyone mentioning the DMC story arc being incomplete. I don't see suggestions for how the formula from the last few games could have been improved. Sounds to me like you and yours got a shitload of entertainment out of the franchise while it lasted. So how about this. How about you cherish the time you had with the old DMC, without expecting the developers to always cater to and please the same audience over and over, and let some new people enjoy some fun new shit, you selfish prick.

Thank you, and good day.

Whenever one/some of them start unleashing vicious diarrhea on something, be it games, food, "lol the internet", or just about anything, really. More often than not this is Jeff and Patrick's domain, such as the whole Red Dead thing or something like Patrick's thoughts on Chrono Cross and the new Twisted Metal being "dog shit". There's something to be said for the expression "if you ain't got nothin nice to say, then don't say fuck all" or however that goes.
