@Th3irdEye: I actually considered that, but it somehow it seemed super unlikely. Now it kinda makes more sense than any other scenario. Pretty weird property though, if true.

@golguin: The explode on reload is honestly the best thing about it. Try firing off one round and then throwing it at an enemy. Crazy damage.

So I had found a legendary SMG, Hefty Baby Maker, req. 19. I've been using it for a while now, mostly because the reload/throw does a buttload of damage.

Something weird just happened though.

I opened up my inventory after a pretty big firefight, and I see another Hefty Baby Maker sitting there, this one req. 25, with way better stats minus fire damage. I'm level 27. I still have both guns, the 19 and the 25. I don't remember picking up anything orange during the fight. Google tells me nothing about Legendaries upgrading themselves, and I refuse to believe I got the exact same rare drop and didn't notice picking it up.

Did the game bug out somehow? Or, do legendaries level up along with you if you use them a lot? Or, did I inadvertently dupe my gun (even though the properties are different) and scale it up to my current level?

Any help would be appreciated.

The fact that no one is complaining about the weak-ass fast travel system and all the pointless walking/backtracking you have to do makes me think I'm doing something wrong. Any car station I see becomes a godsend at this point because the FT stations are in the dumbest locations.

And yeah leveling is pretty slow. It actually seems like some trees are meant to complement early progression more than others. For example, the sniper tree seems like it'll do mindblowing damage when maxed out, with the early skills being kinda meh, while the melee tree starts you off with damage buffs right away. I'm only level 19 though, so wtf do I know?

I feel like I need a place to dump my speculations, so here goes.

I have a feeling that all this "keeping the kids out of the house" thing isn't all for nothing, and I'm expecting some bad mofos to come knocking (!), likely resulting in Skyler's death. Judging by the season opening, and Walt's appearance and demeanor, something had to have happened to his family to make him get a gun that big, and I'm rooting for Skyler to bite it over Walt Jr. or Holly. Also, I'm kind of expecting Walt to kill Steve Gomez at some point. Just a baseless hunch. Steve or Hank.

Side note, there's no a in Skyler, people. Goddamn. Skylar sounds like a fuckin superhero.

I find it highly discouraging that you felt the need to hide the possible validity of 4chan's opinion behind 2 other layers before presenting it to this community, and got ripped on regardless of your efforts.

On topic though, what CoD did (along with a couple other games) is push expectations for video game sales through the roof. Now if a game doesn't sell at least 2-3 million copies, it's a fucking failure. I, personally, find that to be a bad thing.

That has little to do with the billions in business CoD does every year, and more based on the insane budgets these games are made with. While in truth a 40 million dollar game would only have to sell around 700k units to break even, the truth is that the $59.99 you spend on a video game doesn't all go toward the publisher. It gets broken up into percentages between the publisher, developer, and of course distributor. There was a graphic floating around from an EA dev that broke down how much went where, so if someone could find that, that'd be swell.

The business of putting a disc in your hands isn't as simple as a lot of people think, it turns out.

I may have misrepresented the point I was trying to make. What I had in mind was more the following mentality: "CoD is selling like a motherfucker. Our game is selling a small fraction of that. Maybe we can sell more copies if we change our design philosophy a little bit to reflect that of CoD". Basically, Activision (again, along with a few others) showed the rest of the industry how real money gets made. For better or for worse, a lot of people are now trying to emulate it. I am of the opinion that that stifles a lot of creativity and outside the box thinking.

As to your point about budgets, I feel like I can still blame games/franchises like CoD for that, simply because they raise the bar for quality, whether it be graphical or mechanical or what have you. Once they raise that bar, people begin to expect that same level of quality from everyone else, and new ideas become more and more risky.

Gamers hating other gamers for hating or liking certain games, on a gaming website. I just don't get it.

Where's the option for, "Get that 'U' out of COLOR!"

I have already angered all the grammar Nazi's in this thread by my first typo, I don't think it would be wise to annoy them even more by miss spelling colour on top of that

Even though I don't care how people spell it, your response made me so happy inside.

On topic: Over the course of my life, I have pooped a veritable rainbow of shades and hues. And colo(u)rs.
