Basically they are trying to reduce dungeon queue times by giving greater incentives to whatever role is currently least represented at any given time (usually tanks or healers).
Incentives include extra gold, chance at a gem and flask, and most interesting, for someone collecting mounts and pets (Nye and Leu): "a good chance of receiving a non-combat pet (including cross faction pets), and a very rare chance at receiving a mount. The pets offered come from a wide variety of sources, and include companions like the Razzashi Hatchling, Cockatiel, and Tiny Sporebat, but the mounts are those specifically only available through dungeons (not raids), like the Reins of the Raven Lord from Sethekk Halls, Swift White Hawkstrider from Magister's Terrace, and Deathcharger's Reins from Stratholme."
I'm not sure how well this will work out. Whether there exists a lack of tanks and healers because they aren't inclined to do random dungeons, or simply there is a lack of tanks and healers in the world could determine whether this new system is effective.
In any case, a chance at rare mounts if you find yourself fitting into the system seems interesting.
Great update Az! I'll reiterate that I'd say all of us are more than willing to help with the gearing up process! I, and many others, still run heroics on a daily basis and would love to have some new folks along!
Card arrived and it's installed and running well! I need to buy a new case fan tomorrow, so I only gave it a quick test. It's good to be back up and running though. I have a new appreciation for how WoW looks on ultra.
@Thrawnkkar: Plus we can take as many people as we want for these, they don't get harder if we go over 10 people. I get a good weapon from the boss in Vash (not Whaleshark, there's another dude near the entrance to ToT), and I think the guy in Uldum drops something I can use. If one of us happens to find one of these dudes and we have a bunch of people on (after 4.1 hits), we should try to call a group together.
Also, I think I'm to the point where I want to see if we can get any interest for a Four Winds raid during the week. I've learned that fight pretty well by now through vids, so as long as we can get a group of heroic-geared 85s with 2 tanks and 3 healers, I think we can take it down (high DPS is not super essential for that fight)
