1. the mention of Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper, Populous, Magic Carpet, Black & White and Theme Park. If the ever where any games that nurtured my life long interest in the media, it was these games. On top of that I really loved The Movies... why oh why did I ever doubt Peter Molyneux?
2. The idea of a room full of smart, young, eager people with the same interest as me... what am I doing here? No, I mean, what THE HELL am I doing here??
In recent years it's Lost and The Wire. Extremely well produced shows that elevated TV far above movies, for me. But of all time it has to be "How the west was won" (or simply "Macahan" as it was called here in sweden). I was shivering with anticipation every week waiting for this show to start. I don't know how well it holds up today but I haven't loved a show so much ever since.
My hormones are in balance so I don't rage quit anything. The closest I get is when I'm stuck on a puzzle. But puzzlers is a genre where you need to rest your head from time to time. I play a lot of multiplayer shooters and can't stand rage quitting. You have to endure the bad times. The good times will feel so much better then.
I really liked Screened when Matt and Alex were there. So personal you could actually see what mood they were in when they wrote articles. Not entirely professional but I liked it. They never found that perfect mix of content what makes GB so great. But I realize video content is much much more of a hassle with TV and movies. All that goodwill is wiped away now. If nothing radical happens soon they're gone from the internet. And I don't think I care.
I have a hard time calling game journalism actual "journalism". They, mostly, extend information that's not in any way hidden or consealed to the public. They're reporters and editors. Nothing wrong with that but the field of journalism is a bit bigger than that. Just like engineering, medicine, economy. Dabbling in those fields doesn't make you part of it. That's all I had to say.
