I found AC II at Walmart for $40 a few days after Christmas. I finished everything, the main story, the truth, all treasure, EVERYTHING, 2 days ago. I skipped new year's to finish this game. I have 40 feathers to find and 2 statuettes, and I'm missing some paintings some how. 47 out of 50 Achievements. AC II destroyed my life in a way only old school games used to, and I love it for that. It felt like it would never end, but when I did the last assassination contract mission in Venice, I wanted still wanted more.
Give me Dead Space shooting mechanics, atmosphere, and environment (think mansion instead of Ishumura), and I'll be happy to play RE 6. RE 4 was a great game for its time, before the likes of Gears and Dead Space, and RE 5 is merely a highly polished version of that game. The core mechanics of third person shooters have evolved past RE 4, something RE 5 failed to realize. Either evolve and match the advances of Dead Space and Gears, or go back to static cameras, slow pace, and tense gameplay, but don't linger in between, neither a great 3rd person action game (mechanically speaking, the set pieces and presentation in RE 5 were amazing) nor a survival horror game.
@Icemael: Right you are. I just played the demo, it is one hell of an action game, definitely of the same pedigree as Devil May Cry, if not better. The sex appeal of Bayonetta doesn't hurt either. The animation is amazing, I could watch her walk all day. I'll admit, I was a skeptic after seeing more ridiculous shit after more ridiculous shit, but after playing the demo, getting the controller in my hand, it all works. All of it. I'm buying this game.
Thanks for all the replies, GB community does it again. I played the hell out of NHL 09, and never played the original Left 4 Dead, maybe I'll pick up the sequel and you guys convinced me on Dragon Age. Its a shame about Brutal Legend, after playing Psychonauts, I was so ready to give Double Fine the $60, oh well.
Up here in Canada, Future Shop and Best Buy are having a sale on some pretty high profile EA titles.
NHL 10 NFS: Shift Brutal Legend Left 4 Dead 2 Dragon Age: Origins
Each one is going for $40, and at that price, I'd be willing to pick up two. I haven't bought any of these games yet, I've only shelled out for a few XBLA games and got Modern Warfare 2 for my birthday. SO! Which two out of these titles should I pick up, or any Canadians here going to take advantage? I'm leaning towards NHL 10 and Left 4 Dead 2, but Dragon Age and Brutal Legend look tempting.
I second Virtua Fighter 5 Online if it's anything like VF 4, I haven't played any fighting games for ages because the Xbox directional pad is crud and can't break down and buy a proper arcade stick. Dual shock 2 had a manageable directional pad.
