Having Miyamoto as a mentor working along new, young talent is more valuable than whatever influence he has on current and future software and hardware Nintendo is working on. And who knows, what if the NX ends up being a massive hit and Miyamoto's next projects are successful and praised by all? It could just take another Wii Sports equivalent to make that happen and Miyamoto is capable of making that a reality.
@nevergameover: I believe @rorie has said via Twitter that an afterparty is unlikely due to limited venues near the convention center, but unlikely doesn't mean it's not happening so who knows. If there's one, I'm sure there will be an announcement. If it was anything like the last time they attempted an afterparty during PAX East, it will be a nightmare on several fronts.
Should Nintendo really try to target everyone? I heard a marketing advice that products need to have a target audience.
Nintendo absolutely has a target audience, but it's less based on age and more on lifestyle, I think. It's a reason why the Wii was successful. It wasn't about when you were born, but kinds of games you like, which skews more family friendly and casual. The nostalgia effect exists, but isn't really that prominent otherwise the Wii U would be selling much better.
Might as well put this out there. The only way I can truly enjoy bacon is to cook it to death. It's best when it shatters into pieces on impact with your mouth.
