I think that box art looks terrible and cheesy personally, but, I am pretty stoked for Left4Dead. I'll be picking up the 360 version if I decide I can afford it amongst all the other must-buys being released at the same time.
Yeah I've got to say, I don't think there should even be stars. You can't break down how good a game is numerically, and having a number at the end encourages people to skip the text entirely.
I think review websites have a vague fear of being ignored entirely though if they don't have the end-all much coveted 'review score' for people to immediately identify with, so perhaps these sites, as good as their intentions may be, don't feel they can afford to lose it.
As the figurehead for Gears of War, Marcus will be an icon just off the strength and popularity of the actual game. He's not very iconic in design, he's a pretty stereotypical bulky soldier-with-attitude, but he's the character that represents a game which is becoming such a prominent franchise itself, so he's a legend by default. I think this is pretty much the exact same process that happened to Master Chief, who himself is literally a faceless space marine with a bit of an attitude.
Oh sweet Jesus, my list for this would be enormous. It would be faster to list games that I have completed. If we keep it strictly home console current-gen, we're talking DMC4, Saints Row, Viva Pinata, Uncharted, Assassins Creed and GTA4. Also HL2 Episode 1 and 2 from the Orange Box (although I did beat Portal and HL2 on it.)
If we start talking handhelds, that's a whole new kettle of fish.
The idea that people can be residents of one place on these united internet is just creepy you nerds. If you're asking where I heard about giantbomb, who even remembers that it's been so long. I remember following Jeff's story for a while, I'd never had an interest in gamespot or its staff but I was vaguely aware of Jeff, having been into gaming and wise to reviews for longer than I care to share, and Jeff's story was a pretty interesting topic at the time.
Not so much of a bug, but it would be nice if you allowed small images to be used as user icons. It seems a little counter-intuitive to have those but not allow images the same size guys!
