I'll be honest I haven't been on the site in a long time because of the silence of the staff over the last two months. Not here to start a fight so I just didn't do it and Giant Bomb went from a site I watch everyday to one I would maybe check every few weeks to see if the policy of "we don't talk about people's personal lives," was the case(of course i realize because of that I may have missed a lot of the conversation). I think Gamergate has been a blight on games and gaming culture. I don't understand why those who crusade for "ethics" would continue to do so under a banner that is so tainted with personal attacks and terror tactics and try to rebuild something new and actually inclusive. Games are at a great place right now when they can be more immersive and revolutionary medium. Now that we have a democratization of games (thanks to tools like twine) more and more and different people are making games. We can't hold on to what games used to be anymore we have to change with them. Guess what some games may be a "walking simulator" about family and other will be bad ass blood and guts; both have to be given some merit. I think and this may be bias that there is some resistance to new forms of game because they tend to be more female and queer developed and friendly than more traditional games.
Games journalism has changed a lot too. I find it disturbing that GG was founded on a personal attack on an indie woman developer and not rampant corporate payola. This is an industry that of course can be incestuous and yes people will reap benefits from that. I think outlets have done a lot of good cleanup over the years and transparency is a pretty good start and seems well enforced. Of course with crowd funding becoming normal we have to have that conversation of what's ok. Is there a difference between a game journalist buying a game at retail and them backing a kickstarter? I don't know for sure but it's worth a talk. But what isn't ok is clawing tooth and nail to keep games exclusive and threatening each other. I want to be a part of a community not a hate group.

I really dug this game so far. But have you guys had any bugs that break the game so far? I'm playing on Xbox One and I've had to restart sections about 4 times because for instance the dog just doesnt appear in a room when he's supposed to and there's no way to go back. It's a bummer. Also a bummer that the ending isn't great. I've enjoyed the art and the inclusion of historical facts. It kind of reminded me of Maus using the juxtaposition of comic art and ya know the horribleness of war.
Technical issues aside I would have really liked this but it's been hard to get really emotionally involved when you have to keep replaying whole sections.
I believe Prince dealt with these very same questions in the Batman soundtrack. Because Trust, who do ya?
This was a great article Patrick. VR was eventually going to be co opted in some way. Oculus was never going to stay small and it's not like Sony and Microsoft are mom and pop shops. The feeling of ownership when it comes to Kickstarter projects is an easy way to get yourself burned. Ultimately we have no control.

Battlefield is absolutely a mess but I definitely don't blame the gaming press. When I've had matches of Battlefield work it really is a great game. Unfortunately though I've only had about a dozen or so of those (I've also lost my save file now a couple times on the single player). Those that got their review out before servers went belly up probably had an awesome time with it and I'm sure that game is in there. It's the reality of online games; things are going to go wrong. EA is by far the king of poor messaging the last year between BF4 and Simcity but I also don't blame reviewers for liking SimCity. As long as they have a well argued reason for their review at that time I tend to believe it. The smart thing to do is always wait for a game but the problem is that's not the fun thing to do.
Find a community and listen to their experiences when the game comes to get a real good gauge of what to expect. We're the ones with the wallets and we have more power than a news or reviews outlet. Even if we get burned that first week man we let em know!
Anyone know if Spotify is actually that much better than Rdio? I've been using Rdio for like 3 years now and haven't been bothered to jump ship. Spotify just seems really annoying with its Facebook hooks and all that.
Experience: Beginner, like super beginner (like 5 or so games) I would love to have someone take me under their wing or just some newbies to play pVe with for a while.
