I agree with you, Animasta. The whole "White Knight" rebuttal is cheap and lazy. There isn't even that many females on these forums. It would be silly to put effort into getting this fabled "e-poon" in such a platform. Plus, in my experience, the women that do frequent them tend to be either reactionary or apathetic about the whole Women in Video Games subject anyway.

It still baffles me when self-proclaimed female users say objectification is completely inconsequential and that inequality doesn't exist anymore. Maybe they live in some kind of liberal paradise on Earth [Sweden] inaccessible to me?

I think you're being a bit paranoid. More information is always better and even if they found that violent videogames do cause real violent behavior (extremely doubtful), that does not translate into a repeal of the 1st Amendment or anything like that.

I, for one, am glad they're doing this. Government research will have more credibility than any other private institution. They will of course find that there are no significant links between gun violence and violent media and, while it probably won't shut up everyone, it will mean video games will be less of a scapegoat in the future.

How sad that at the end of the day, consoles will probably just be graphical iterations of what they are already.

If so, I think I'll start saving for a gaming PC or wait to see what the steambox turns out to be.
