@golguin: Then maybe they should've put that into the game before we were so inundated with total boring in the final third that none of us were fired up to see what was in the finale. Also, if it's got sequences ripped directly from TTGL and just ends up in the same exact place as TTGL, why wouldn't you just watch TTGL rather than pay for DLC to watch reskinned TTGL with worse characters? And they ARE worse characters; the only one who maybe comes close is Augus.

Don't know what to tell you since I thought the final third was amazing. Nice way to bring it full circle. The ending DLC isn't just the final fight. More stuff happens in it that just continued to build on how awesome the game was right to the very end in the final chapter.

The DLC also has what I think is the best and most conflicting QTE of all time, I'm sure if you've played it you know which one I'm talking about.

The bro moment?

Asura's Wrath is just not as awesome as Gurren Lagaan or its several anime predecessors. It's sad that a game that spends two thirds of its runtime being seventy times crazier than Bayonetta suddenly fizzles and drops its finale entirely. I watched a friend play through that game with a group of friends, and we didn't see the extended ending or play the extended ending DLC because we had become so disenfranchised we didn't really want to play any more of it. It didn't help that it was about 3 in the morning when we finished, but still. It's ultimately a bit of a disappointment.

So I'd tell you to go with Binary Domain. It's more of a mystery, in my book, as I haven't played more than a very small amount of it. It plays nicely, though. If the story really has wild moments like some people say (Patrick on the Bombcast included,) then I'd guess it's more satisfying than Asura's Wrath.

You can't say that when you haven't seen the DLC. The ending to Asura's Wrath is basically the ending to Gurren Lagann right down to the final fight. The power up scale ends up in the same place too.

I already didn't get the car jacking skill and got the gun one instead. Are you guys saying I can max out both the top and bottom paths? You literally get every skill that you see?

EDIT: That is to say I don't need to sacrifice one skill to get another skill?

Hey duders, I mostly stuck to the heavy hitter AAA games this year, and was mostly disappointed. I need some buck-wild Japanese bullshit for the upcoming break, and lots of game has been talked up of both Asura's Wrath and Binary Domain, and they are both super cheap on Amazon. I really like extremely earnest stories about robotics(Isaac Asimov), and I really like stuff like Gurren Lagann where there is no limit on how fucking insane the scale of things will get. I just need another game to fill up the break. Mark of the Ninja, XCOM and whatever of these two I get will probably make me less bummed about games, judging from what I've played of them so far.

Also, yes, I'll be buying the DLC for Asura's Wrath, most likely.

Sell me on one of them!

Dude, there are parts in asuras wrath straight up lifted from gurren lagann. I say that is your answer.

@Turambar: While you are correct, to me that still is a flaw. Sure you can use any of the combos you mentioned, but my biggest issue is you can do any of those combinations no matter what class you pick. And even though you mentioned different ways to create a play style, they all boil down to some form of a red mage: you have to be proficient in melee and have some sort of magic to back you up.

Keep in mind, when I say late game I'm not talking about super-expert level late game. I've dropped a couple hundred hours on Dark Souls and haven't beaten it once. My highest level dude is somewhere around 60. So if I'm totally wrong that's probably why, that was just the impression I got from my experience.

I'm sorry to tell you, but that is just completely wrong. I wont explain all the intricacies of PVP at different soul levels since you simply haven't experienced that part of the game yet, but I'll just say that the variety of competitive builds is pretty big and the recent DLC simply made it bigger with the addition of the new sorcery, item nerfs, and the PVP SL brackets.

My two builds (SL 111 and SL 48) can best be described as pyro dex except that my SL 111 can wield the Great Lord Greatsword and Uchigatana and win without the use of my pyro regularly. My SL 48 uses her Uchi as the finisher to my parrying/riposte style since opponents at that SL range aren't really strong enough to OHKO me with any kind of attack.

I'm going to take a shower and then install the game. I hope there isn't stuff I can miss since my only experience with this kind of game was Red Dead and you could always go back and do whatever you needed to do. I don't want to FAQ this game so I want the freedom to play it however I want without thinking in the back of my head that I just missed this awesome moment because I didn't do X thing with Y.

Am I good to go?

I'm assuming you weren't using snipers if your damage was that low, I'd say that is the only explanation!

I had a trio of snipers that were all girls. They were my angels of death. The thing is that I spent all my money on satellites and workshops so I never had money for weapons and armor. I didn't fully upgrade my equipment until like 5 missions before I beat the game. I literally used default weapons and equipment for the majority of the game and no one died and my team rarely took damage. It's the reason for my 20 turn average on missions. I went super slow and made sure to aggro only a couple of aliens and then the whole team focused fire on them. I found normal mode pretty easy and it would have been a complete breeze if I wasn't paranoid about my aircraft, satellites, and base building. All of my money was needlessly spent on preparing for a threat that never came.

Finally beat the game. Kinda ended abruptly, but I was surprised that the stat screen showed that my average damage was only 6 and the world average was at like 20. My round average was 20 and the world was 10, but no one died so I win.

Time for Sleeping Dogs.
