The big one for me was Resonance of Fate. I thought it was a brilliant game that really brought a unique and awesome combat style. Most people I recommend it to have never even heard of it, which is a damn shame.
There is usually anywhere from 10-20 people in the Giantbomb chat at all times. Lately we have been able to fill 5 man groups and even set up a few in-house matches between the GB channel and the DotaInsight (podcast I do) channel. I think most people are more interested in jumping in for a quick game rather then more organized clan type activities. Just idle in the channel and hopefully you can catch people looking to play.
Valve is really pulling out all the stops on the voice cast for DOTA2 which is kind of crazy considering that it's a MOBA. Then again, it's fucking impressive the amount of care that is going into a game that people will play for the competitiveness of the gameplay and not the quality of the VO even though Valve will be selling announcer packs for each character so I guess some people will care about that stuff.
Also Jon St.John is currently voicing 4 characters (my personal favourite line) and Tony Todd is voicing 3 which is crazy.
I have spent over 400 hours on Dota 2 already and I am still hearing new things. Yesterday Tidehunter killed Slardar and said "Why do you fight me Slardar, together we could have brought Knukka to the bottom of the sea!" The voice stuff alone is something that sets Dota 2 leaps and bounds above the rest and shows Valve's commitment to this game. They could have stuck with a few generic sayings, but they went the extra mile and are making each match feel unique.
@Stepside: I still stand by trying out these guys first: Lich, Tidehunter, Vengeful Spirit, Venomancer, Windrunner, Shadow Shaman, Sand King, Skeleton King. The reason for these is you don't really need farm to be effective. You just need to not get picked off and join the fights to pop off all of your abilities.
Morph is a fantastic hero, one of my favorite carries atm. But you really need a high understanding of the game to play him. If you can get him down and feel comfortable in a game with him, go for it. A good bench march as far as CS (last hitting) is at least 75+ at the 20:00 min mark. 100+ is great, but 75+ is a more realistic number for most people. This is where you live or die as a carry, its all about the CS in the early game and if you can keep up...then by all means go for it.
Hit me up in game, name should be Finch in game. I am usually always in the GiantBomb channel as well as in the Steam group. Also in the DotaInsight chat channel (dota podcast I do). I can answer any questions you have and break down the game. I pretty regularly give lessons and am always around to answer questions.
If you have a Wii, Tri is your best bet as others have said. The biggest thing though is make sure you get a Classic Controller Pro for the Wii to play it. It is by far the best experience to play the game. If you don't have a Wii, pick up Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on the PSP or PSVita, it is probably the Monster Hunter game with the most content.
If you do pick one up, there is no shame in looking online on where to find certain materials to make weapons / armor. Over time you will learn where everything is located and it is no big deal, but at first it can be a bit daunting.
I am so excited for this. Ratchet and Clank is still my favorite game series of all time, this collection is exactly what I wanted. Can't wait to get back into these games that I have so many fond memories of.
