I haven't played many games that were released this year (been focusing on my backlog), but out of the games I did play a good bit of, I'd say Devil Survivor 2, Rhythm Heaven Fever and Trials Evolution are my favorites so far.

Probably close to 200 spread out between six consoles, the DS and Steam.

Most times, I attempt to pick up right where I left off and hope that I can play the game well enough for me to trudge forward. There's a couple of games in my backlog that are currently at that state right now that I plan to tackle soon.

I think the only genre where I'll restart are RPGs, I probably wouldn't remember the little details of the system and recall what happened in the story prior.

Yup, I have a good chunk to go through, probably over 20 games. I'm doing my best to just purely focus on a game or two and hack away at those, then move on to the next.

Right now, I'm locked in with Devil Survivor 2 and Atelier Rorona.

Super Mario World

  • Beautiful art and graphics. Lots of colors thrown in throughout the game. Nice soundtrack too.
  • Quality Level Design: A lot of awesome designed levels with numerous secrets to discover. No stage feels dull or underwhelming.
  • Perfect gradual increase of difficulty. Starting off easy than slowly cranking up as you progress to a new section of the SMW map.
  • Plenty of enemies to defeat in most stages and to see in the entire game.
  • Fun Powerups: Feather! Yoshi! And colored shells and Yoshis!
  • Highly Replayable: Retains fun/charm after multiple replays.

I'll throw in a few of my favorites to recommend.

Azumanga Daioh - for slapstick comedy, 4 panels per strip (like a daily newspaper cartoon)

Yotsuba&! - fun slice-of-life from a young girl's perspective

Solanin; What a Wonderful World - adult-themed slice-of-life stories, mostly revolving how the characters struggle to find happiness in their lives
