What everybody said and Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is a great action/RPG too. I'm not sure if it's the greatest but it's one of my favorites. I guess I'll mention Nethack too.
e: (Bloodlines is on Steam, Nethack is free online).
I haven't played V:TM yet, but goddamn is Nethack a deep well. It's interesting to play Nethack with an eye for modern RPG tropes and see a ton of them that existed in early incarnations even way back in the 80s.
It seems the biggest failing is her early weakness not reflecting in the gameplay. This is a perfect example of where Spec Ops The Line's dialogue and execution animation changes should have been used and extended even further. Make the combat more brutal and professional as the game progresses.
Forget about Tomb Raider, now I want to play SO:TL again.
Gwyn's theme from Dark Souls: The relatively subdued tones of the music in the last fight are in such stark contrast to the rest of the boss themes and it really helps set the mood that that the player has pretty much destroyed the last vestiges of the once-great civilization that thrived in Lordan. The Gwyn fight also carries a significantly different weight depending on if you sided with Frampt or Kaathe.
Dancing Mad: This song is just dope all the way through. Nevermind that the full version is almost 20 minutes long, I'mma listen to the whole damn thing.
FFVIII -The Extreme: I just like #8. I'll admit that the writing might not be the best in the series but I like 8's soundtrack the most.
